Postma has picked up five assists in five games since joining Providence (AHL). His call-up suggests that one or both of Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug won’t be available tonight after getting hurt in Tuesday’s win in Carolina. Postma had one assist in 12 games with the Bruins earlier this season.
The Bruins have recalled Anton Blidh from Providence (AHL).
Blidh, 23, has scored nine goals with 13 assists (22 points) in 59 games with Providence (AHL) this season. His call-up likely means that Jake DeBrusk will not play on Thursday after getting hurt in Tuesday’s game.
The Maple Leafs have recalled Garret Sparks from Toronto (AHL).
Sparks has been impressive in the AHL this season, going 24-8-1 with a 1.78 GAA and .936 SV% in 35 games with the Marlies. Sparks has been recalled to backup Curtis McElhinney tonight in Buffalo because Frederik Andersen (upper-body) was hurt yesterday.
Andersen left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return.
Andersen made 17 saves on 20 shots before being replaced by Curtis McElhinney in the Maple Leafs shootout win over the Stars last night. Andersen will not be available for Thursday’s game in Buffalo as McElhinney has already been named the starter and Garrett Sparks has been recalled from Toronto (AHL). There is no word on the severity of Andersen’s injury at this point.

Lehtonen allowed four goals on 26 shots in the Stars loss in Montreal last night. Head coach Ken Hitchcock announced that he is going to play Lehtonen until he sees Bishop again, so look for Lehtonen to make his fifth consecutive start tonight in Toronto. Lehtonen has gone 1-3-1 with a 2.39 GAA and .917 SV% since Bishop went down with a lower-body injury.
Line Change
Biega will be back in the Canucks lineup on Wednesday.
With Erik Gudbranson set to miss the rest of the season, Biega will get back in the lineup for just the second time in eight games tonight. Biega has just six assists in 32 contests this season.
Gudbranson will undergo shoulder surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
The Canucks announced that Gudbranson has been removed from the active roster and will undergoing surgery for a shoulder injury that he originally sustained on November 22nd. Gudbranson should be ready to go for 2018-19 training camp this fall.

Markstrom will start Wednesday in Anaheim.
Markstrom stopped 23 of 24 shots in the Canucks loss in Arizona on Sunday. Anders Nilsson started two of the last three games, but Marsktrom will go tonight in Anaheim. Markstrom’s last five starts have been a bit of a disaster, as he’s gone just 1-2-2 with a 3.08 GAA and .907 SV%.
