Miller gave up three goals on 26 shots in the Ducks loss to the Blue Jackets on December 7th. With John Gibson going last night, Miller will make his 12th start of the season on Friday. He'll face a Hurricanes team that has won three in a row and five of their last seven on home ice.

Murray stopped 28 of 31 shots in the Lightning's win in Colorado last Friday. Tristan Jarry started the last three games, including last night, so Murray draws the favourable matchup tonight in Detroit. He's won three straight and the Red Wings should be grossly outmatched by his teammates.

Hamilton was injured late in the second period on Thursday. Hamilton and Kevin Stenlund were chasing after the puck when they had their legs tangle, Hamilton falling backward and bending his left leg under him. Hamilton will undergo further evaluation before they decide on potential surgery. Jordan Staal suffered a similar injury in a preseason exhibition game in September 2014 against the Buffalo Sabres. Staal underwent surgery to repair a broken fibula and had an estimated recovery time of three to four months.

Vladar served as Jaroslav Halak's backup last night but swaps spots with Maxime Lagace and heads back to the AHL.

Lagace replaced Dan Vladar as the Bruins No.2 and comes up after going 14-6-2 with a 2.49 GAA and .915 SV% in 23 AHL games. He has gone 6-8-1 with a 3.92 GAA and .868 SV% in 17 career NHL games (all with Vegas).

Tinordi played last night his reassignment suggests that Matt Irwin will draw into the lineup on Saturday and could indicate that Ryan Ellis (concussion) isn't far from a return. He has five assists in 28 AHL games this season.

Carrier played in two games during his call-up but heads back to the AHL now that Dante Fabbro is back in the lineup. Carrier has four goals and 21 assists (25 points) in 34 AHL games this season.

Trenin has appeared in seven straight games, picking up one goal and three assists but heads back to the AHL, where he has 26 points (14G / 12A) in 20 games this season. Austin Watson will likely replace him on Saturday.

With Carl Dahlstrom out long-term, Schilling comes up to be the extra defenseman on Friday. Schilling has appeared in 10 career NHL games and has five goals and 14 assists (19 points) in 40 AHL games this season.

Holtby allowed four goals on 21 shots in the Capitals 5-1 loss to the Devils last Saturday. Holtby has lost five of his last six starts (1-5-0) with a 4.34 GAA and .832 SV%. This afternoon he faces the Islanders for the second time this season--he allowed four goals on 22 shots in a 4-3 loss in the first meeting (Dec.31).

Daley has missed the last four games with an undisclosed injury but is expected to play Friday vs. the Penguins. Daley will be back on the second pair with Filip Hronek and on the second power-play unit.

Maroon has missed the last three games with an undisclosed injury but is expected to play Friday in Winnipeg. Alexander Volkov has been sent back to the AHL, opening up a spot in the lineup for Maroon.

Volkov appeared in the last four games with Tampa Bay but has been sent back to the AHL with Patrick Maroon set to return to the lineup on Friday. Volkov has 15 points (2G / 13A) in 25 AHL games this season.

Hellebuyck stopped all 41 shots that he faced in the Jets shutout win over the Canucks on Tuesday. Hellebuyck has won three of his last four with a sparkling 1.48 GAA, .955 SV% and one shutout. As good as he's been lately, he's got a tough matchup with the Lightning in town and Andrei Vasilevskiy likely in the opposing crease.

Howard was pulled after he allowed three goals on seven shots in the Red Wings loss to the Islanders on Tuesday. Since the start of November, Howard is 0-11-1 with a 5.04 GAA and .850 SV%. Tonight the Penguins roll into town with a healthy Sidney Crosby and have won 12 of their last 15 (12-2-1).

Hamilton suffered an ugly-looking leg injury during Thursday's loss in Columbus. He was tangled up with Kevin Stenlund and went down very awkwardly. Hamilton had to be helped off of the ice and when head coach Rod Brind'Amour addressed the media post-game, he said that "it doesn't look good, obviously." It looks like the Hurricanes could be without their All-Star defenseman long-term but expect an update in the next 24 hours.
