McElhinney is expected to start Thursday in New York.

McElhinney allowed one goal on 40 shots in the Maple Leafs win in Dallas last Thursday. It was a great outing for the Toronto backup, who hadn’t played in 36 days. With Frederik Andersen starting last night he probably won’t have to wait another month to play as he’s expected to start tonight against the Rangers. McElhinney has gone 2-3-0 with a 2.88 GAA and .919 SV% on the road this season.

Curtis McElhinney
MacKinnon is expected to miss 7-to-10 days with a shoulder injury.

It looks like the Avalanche avoided disaster here as MacKinnon’s shoulder injury is only expected to sideline him for about one week. The Avalanche likely won’t disclose a full timetable until Thursday but the preliminary indications are positive. MacKinnon won’t play Thursday but has not officially been ruled out for Saturday’s game.

Nathan MacKinnon
Greiss will start Wednesday in Toronto.

Greiss allowed four goals on 56 shots in the Islanders win in Montreal on January 15th. Jaroslav Halak started the last six games, including last night, so Greiss is expected to go tonight in Toronto. Greiss is 5-5-0 with a 4.25 GAA and .888 SV% on the road this season and he’ll be in tough against a good Toronto team with a tired squad in front of him.

Thomas Greiss
Bernier will start Thursday in Edmonton.

Bernier allowed four goals on 26 shots in Colorado’s loss in Vancouver on Tuesday. Bernier has lost three in a row (0-2-1) while posting a 3.35 GAA and .899 SV%. Bernier had a good run but the Avs have cooled off over the last week. Tonight he faces an Oilers team that has won four of five but will be without Cam Talbot tonight.

Jonathan Bernier
Montoya will likely start Thursday with Cam Talbot (illness) listed as doubtful.

Montoya allowed one goal on 12 shots after replacing Cam Talbot in the Oilers loss to the Sabres last Tuesday. Tonight he gets his first start with the Oilers and comes in having stopped 43 of 45 shots (.956 SV%) in three relief appearances. He catches a break with Nathan MacKinnon not in the Avalanche lineup tonight.
