He has allowed at least four goals in his last five starts, resulting in a 4.09 GAA and .870 SV% while going 1-2-2. Tonight he will take on an Oilers team that has been playing better as of late, but are still just 6-4-0 in their last 10.
Varlamov stopped 32 of 33 shots in Colorado’s win over the Panthers last Thursday. With Jonathan Bernier losing vs. the Lightning on Saturday, the Avalanche will come back to their Russian netminder tonight vs. the Penguins. His overall numbers are average but he has been strong on home-ice, going 6-2-1 with a 2.65 GAA and .922 SV% in nine starts and one relief appearance.
Murray stopped 15 of 17 shots in the Penguins win in Arizona on Saturday. It was an easy night for Murray who has stopped 39 of 43 shots (.907 SV%) in two starts since returning to the Penguins’ crease. The 23-year-old comes into tonight’s game at 6-6-0 with a 3.25 GAA and .885 SV% away from Pittsburgh.
Sharp hasn't scored in 10 games and has just one goal in his last 27. Richard Panik is expected to take his spot on the third line.
Anderson stopped all 28 shots that he faced in the Senators shutout win outdoors on Saturday. Anderson will make his third straight start after winning his last two games while stopping 55 of 57 shots (.965 SV%). The veteran netminder comes into Tuesday at 6-5-3 with a 2.87 GAA and .903 SV% on home ice.
Gibson allowed three goals on 27 shots in the Ducks loss in Washington on Saturday. Ryan Miller started the front-end of their back-to-back last night, so Gibson will likely go tonight in New York. The 24-year-old has gone 2-1-3 with a 2.44 GAA and .921 SV% in six starts.
Miller stopped all 29 shots that he faced in the Ducks shutout win over the Senators on December 6th. John Gibson has started the last four games but it looks like Miller will start the front-end of the Monday/Tuesday back-to-back. The 37-year-old has gone 1-0-3 with a 2.04 GAA and .939 SV% on the road this season.
Bobrovsky allowed two goals on 24 shots in the Blue Jackets loss in Carolina on Saturday. Bobrovsky has lost four of his last seven starts while posting a 3.33 GAA and .886 SV%. In his first start of the season against the Bruins, Goalie Bob allowed three goals on 30 shots in a 4-3 shootout win.
Khudobin allowed four goals on 21 shots in the Bruins’ loss to the Capitals last Thursday. With Tuukka Rask starting last night, Khudobin is expected to go tonight in Buffalo. Khudobin had a nice stretch but has now allowed at least three goals in three straight games while posting an .800 SV%.
Quick gave up three goals on 27 shots in the Kings loss in New York last Friday. Darcy Kuemper gave him the day off on Saturday so the Kings will look to end a three-game losing skid with Quick between the pipes tonight. In his first start against the Flyers, the 31-year-old stopped all 35 shots that he faced in a 2-0 shutout win.
Rask allowed three goals on 28 shots in the Bruins OT loss to the Rangers on Saturday. The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Rask, who will make his 20th start of the season tonight vs. the Blue Jackets. Rask lost in his first start vs. Columbus but has been great in December, going 4-0-1 with a 1.44 GAA and .947 SV% in five starts and one relief appearance.
Schneider allowed two goals on 30 shots in the Devils win over the Stars last Friday. Schneider has won four of his last six starts while posting a 4-1-1 with a 2.00 GAA and .932 SV%. Tonight he will take on the 14-11-8 Ducks on home-ice where he is 7-4-2 with a 2.58 GAA and .918 SV% this season.
