NHL Hockey Player News

Jones will start Tuesday vs. the Rangers.

Jones surrendered a whopping seven goals on 34 shots in the Sharks’ loss in Nashville on Saturday. Despite the ugly outing the Sharks will roll with Jones again tonight vs. the Rangers. He has lost three in a row and five of seven in March, but is 17-9-4 with a 2.07 GAA and .918 SV% on home ice this season.

Martin Jones
Ward will start Tuesday vs. the Red Wings.

Ward allowed three goals on 35 shots in the Hurricanes’ win in Florida last Tuesday. Eddie Lack has started the last three games, but was hurt last night, so Ward will start tonight vs. the Red Wings. Ward is 3-1-3 with a 3.27 GAA and .900 SV% in March, but lost his only start vs. Detroit this season.

Cam Ward
Talbot will start Tuesday vs. the Kings.

Talbot was pulled after allowing four goals 15 shots in the Oilers’ loss in Colorado last Thursday. Talbot was pulled in back-to-back starts, allowing eight goals on just 33 shots (.758 SV%). After getting a night off on Saturday, Talbot will look to get things back on track tonight vs. the Kings. He is 2-0-0 with a 0.50 GAA, .984 SV% and one shutout against Los Angeles.

Cam Talbot
Karlsson (lower-body) will return to the Sharks’ lineup on Tuesday.

Karlsson has missed the last eight games with a lower-body injury, but will return to the lineup tonight vs. the Rangers. Karlsson will replace Logan Couture, who is out with a face injury. Karlsson will skate on the second line with Patrick Marleau and Mikkel Boedker.

Melker Karlsson
Couture (face) will not play on Tuesday.

Couture was hit in the face by a puck in Nashville on Saturday and will miss at least one game tonight vs. New York. With Couture out, Patrick Marleau will shift to centre on the Sharks’ centre line. Keep an eye on Couture’s status leading up to the Sharks’ back-to-back on Thursday and Friday.

Logan Couture
Holtby gets the nod Tuesday in Minnesota.

Holtby made 28 saves on 29 shots in the Capitals’ win over the Coyotes on Saturday. Holtby has won four in a row while stopping 112 of 119 shots (.941 SV%) that he has faced. He will look to make it five in a row against a Wild team he faced two weeks ago—he made 30 saves in a 4-2 win on home ice in that meeting.

Braden Holtby
Byfuglien (undisclosed) will return to the Jets’ lineup on Tuesday.

Byfuglien has missed the last two games with an undisclosed injury, but he will draw back into the lineup tonight vs. the Devils. Byfuglien will skate with Julian Melchiori and comes in with 12 goals and 36 assists (48 points) in 74 games this season.
