McElhinney stopped all 37 shots that he faced in the Maple Leafs’ shutout win in Carolina on February 19th. Frederik Andersen started the last five games, including last night, so it looks like McElhinney will go tonight in Anaheim. McElhinney has gone 3-3-0 with a 2.08 GAA, .938 SV% and one shutout since joining the Maple Leafs.

Howard (knee) will go to Grand Rapids (AHL) for a two-game conditioning stint.

Howard previously went down for a conditioning stint in early-February and suffered a setback. Nearly a month later, Howard is set to start for Grand Rapids this Saturday and next Tuesday and barring another setback will return to the Red Wings shortly after.

Bernier will start Friday vs. the Maple Leafs.

Bernier allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Ducks’ loss in Los Angeles last Saturday. John Gibson still isn’t ready to go following their bye week, so Bernier will make his fourth straight start tonight vs. his former team. He has allowed three goals in each of his previous three starts while posting an ugly .866 SV%.

Mrazek is expected to start Friday in Calgary.

Mrazek allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Red Wings’ overtime win in Vancouver on Tuesday. Mrazek has played much better as of late—he has gone 3-3-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .930 SV% in his last six starts. He draws a tough matchup tonight against a Flames team that has won five in a row entering Friday.

The Blackhawks have recalled Jeff Glass from Rockford (AHL).

Glass, 31, has gone 5-7-0 with a 2.62 GAA and .910 SV% in 13 games with Rockford and 1-1-0 with a 2.05 GAA And .917 SV% in two games with the Toronto Marlies (AHL). Glass will serve as Corey Crawford’s backup with Scott Darling battling an upper-body injury.

Darling has started the last two games, but Corey Crawford will get the nod tonight. Darling was set to dress as the backup, but Jeff Glass has been recalled from Rockford (AHL) to do that because Darling is battling an upper-body injury.

The Islanders have activated Travis Hamonic (knee) from IR; expected to play on Friday.

Hamonic has been sidelined by a knee injury since January 8th, but activating him suggests that he will be in the lineup tonight. Hamonic has two goals and 10 assists (12 points) in 35 games this season and should be replacing Scott Mayfield in the lineup.

Hutton will start Friday in Winnipeg.

Hutton stopped all 25 shots that he faced in the Blues’ shutout win in Detroit on February 15th. Hutton has posted back-to-back shutouts, stopping all 51 shots that he’s faced and tonight he’ll face the Jets for the second time this season—he stopped 20 of 23 shots in a 3-2 OT loss back in December.

Domingue will start Friday in Carolina.

Domingue stopped all 11 shots that he faced after replacing Mike Smith in the Coyotes’ loss in Boston on Tuesday. Smith struggled again last night, so head coach Dave Tippet will give him the night off and turn to Domingue. The Coyotes' backup is an ugly 2-10-1 with a 4.19 GAA and .871 SV% on the road.

Elliott will start Friday vs. the Red Wings.

Elliott stopped 28 of 29 shots in the Flames’ win over the Kings on Tuesday. Elliott has won four in a row while posting a 2.23 GAA And .923 SV% and tonight he faces a Red Wings team that sits last in the Eastern Conference. He has gone 4-6-2 with a 2.38 GAA and .918 SV% in his career vs. Detroit.

The Canadiens have signed Chris Terry to a one-year contract extension.

Terry, 27, has registered two goals and two assists (four points) in 14 games with the Canadiens this season. He has spent most of his time with St. John’s (AHL), where he leads the team with 50 points (21G / 29A) in 38 games.
