O’Brien has just one assist in nine games with Ottawa so he returns to Belleville, where he had 28 points (13G / 15A) in 55 games prior to being called up. Filip Chlapik has been recalled to take O’Brien’s spot on the roster.
Chlapik, 20, has 30 points (10G / 20A) in 50 games with Belleville this season and has picked up two assists in 10 games with Ottawa. Chlapik will likely draw into the Senators lineup on Tuesday.
Ben Bishop suffered another lower-body injury on Sunday and he will miss at least the next two weeks, so McKenna returns as Lehtonen's backup. The Stars are fighting for their playoff lives, so McKenna likely won’t see any action. He is 15-9-1 with a 2.69 GAA and .907 SV% in 30 games with Texas this season.
Lehtonen allowed three goals on 20 shots after replacing Ben Bishop in the Stars loss in Winnipeg on Sunday. With Bishop hurt again, Lehtonen will be the Stars’ No.1 down the stretch. The 34-year-old veterans gone 1-4-2 with a 2.93 GAA and .898 SV% in five starts and two relief appearances during a tough March for the Stars’ netminders.
Raffl was hurt in the Flyers win over the Capitals on Sunday, logging just 6:40 TOI. The Flyers announced on Monday morning that Raffl will miss two weeks, which will cost him at least six games.
Donato, 21, just wrapped up his third year at Harvard University where he collected 26 goals and 17 assists (43 points) in just 29 games. The Bruins are really banged up, so Donato could be thrust into a key role right from the get-go. The Boston native was a second round pick (No. 56 overall) in 2014.
Jones missed Saturday’s game vs. the Senators with an upper-body injury but he could be back tonight vs. the Bruins. Jones travelled to Boston but the Blue Jackets rarely hold a morning skate, so we might not get an update on Jones’ status until closer to game-time.
Backes needed 18 stitches to close up a wind that was caused by a skate blade in Saturday’s win over the Lightning. Bruins’ GM Don Sweeney confirmed that Backes isn’t “day-to-day” as they wait to see how the gash heals. The recently signed Ryan Donato could make his NHL debut in Backes’ place on Monday.
Bishop stopped all three shots that he faced before leaving last night’s game with a lower-body injury. It was just his second game back from a lower-body injury that cost him five games and this later injuries will cost him at least six games. Bishop will be re-evaluated after the two weeks and his status for the remaining three games will be determined.
Kuznetsov missed Sunday’s game against the Flyers and is considered day-to-day. Kuznetsov is expected to be re-evaluated on Monday but it sounds like he has avoided serious injury and will be ready to go for the postseason.
