Niemi has gone 2-3-0 with a 2.70 GAA and .891 SV% in five starts this month. Tonight he faces the Canucks for the second time this season—he stopped 29 of 32 in a 4-3 OT win in the first meeting.
Varlamov was pulled after allowing three goals on 15 shots in the Avs’ loss to the Senators on Wednesday. Despite the rough outing, the Avalanche will stick with Varlamov tonight vs. the Jets. In his first game back from injury, he stopped 20 of 21 in a win in Winnipeg, so the matchup shouldn’t scare you.
