NHL Hockey Player News

Tokarski will start on Tuesday.

Tokarski allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Canadiens loss to the Kings on March 5th. Tokarski has lost his last four games while posting a 3.19 GAA and .905 SV%. In his first start against the Panthers, he stopped 36 of 37 shots in a 2-1 shootout win.

Dustin Tokarski
Svedberg will start on Tuesday.

Svedberg allowed three goals on 39 shots in the Bruins win over the Red Wings on March 8th. With Tuukka Rask starting the last four games, including both games of a back-to-back on the weekend, Svedberg will go tonight vs. the Sabres. He makes for a great spot-start having gone 2-0-0 with a 0.99 GAA and .957 SV% vs. Buffalo this season.

Niklas Svedberg
Hackett is the Sabres probable starter.

Anders Linback faced 38 shots last night, so it looks like Hackett will start tonight vs. the Bruins. He allowed four goals on 23 shots in the Sabres loss in Washington 10 days ago. Since being recalled he has allowed eight goals on 60 shots (.867 SV%). Avoid him tonight if possible.

Matthew Hackett
Fraser suffered a concussion on Monday vs. Toronto.

Fraser was forced from Monday’s game after being elbowed in the head by Leafs forward Nazem Kadri. The hit didn’t appear to be on purpose, but it concussed Fraser and will likely get Kadri suspended. Don’t expect Fraser to be in the lineup on Wednesday.

Matt Fraser
Mason gets the nod in Vancouver on Tuesday.

Mason allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Flyers win over the Red Wings on Saturday. He was given Sunday off, so it is no surprise to see him going back in tonight. Mason enters play having gone 2-2-3 with a 2.24 GAA and .927 SV% in seven starts in March. He has also been dreadful on the road this season, going 1-10-6 with a 2.60 GAA and .913 SV%.

Steve Mason
Lack gets the call Tuesday vs. the Flyers.

Lack allowed one goal on 29 shots in the Canucks 4-1 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday. Lack has won three out of his last four starts while posting a 1.75 GAA and .941 SV%. Tonight he will face a Philadelphia team who have lost five out of their last six games.

Eddie Lack
Rinne is likely to start vs. Minnesota.

Rinne allowed four goals on 28 shots in the Predators loss in Anaheim on Sunday. It was a rough night on the second game of a back-to-back. March has easily been his worst month of the season, going 2-5-0 despite posting a solid 2.33 GAA and .916 SV%. Tonight will be his fourth start vs. the Wild—he is 2-1-0 with a 3.02 GAA and .903 SV% in the first three meetings.

Pekka Rinne
Niemi will be in goal vs. Winnipeg.

Niemi gave up five goals on 29 shots in the Sharks 6-2 loss to the Blackhawks on Saturday. It was a rough night, but the Sharks will not hesitate to go back to Niemi tonight in Winnipeg. Niemi has gone 3-2-0 with a 2.19 GAA and .924 SV% in five starts in March.

Antti Niemi
Dubnyk starts Tuesday in Nashville.

Dubnyk made 41 saves on 42 shots in the Wild’s 3-1 win in St. Louis on Saturday. There are no words to describe how brilliant Dubnyk has been since coming to the Wild. It will be his 28th straight start with Minnesota—he has gone 20-5-1 with a 1.66 GAA and .939 SV% in the previous 27 starts.

Devan Dubnyk
Neuvirth will start in goal vs. the Blackhawks.

Neuvirth allowed two goals on 29 shots in the Islanders loss to the Canadiens on Saturday. With Jaroslav Halak out, Neuvirth will start his second game in a row. He has gone 1-1-1 with a 2.56 GAA and .889 SV% since coming to the Islanders. He draws a tough matchup against the Blackhawks, who have won four of five.

Michal Neuvirth
Penguins netminder will be a game-time decision; Greiss was first goalie off the ice.

The entire Penguins lineup will be a game-time decision tonight in New Jersey. Greiss stopped eight of nine shots after replacing Marc-Andre Fleury in the Penguins 5-1 loss to Detroit on Sunday. He has turned aside 63 of 67 shots (.940 SV%) in his last three outings. Greiss has gone 6-2-3 with a 2.75 GAA and .910 SV% on the road this season.

Thomas Greiss
Howard will start Friday in Tampa Bay.

Howard allowed seven goals on 36 shots in the Red Wings 7-2 loss to the Flyers last Saturday. Petr Mrazek has started the last two games, including yesterday’s loss, so it will be Howie tonight in Tampa Bay. Howard has gone 2-3-0 with a 3.45 GAA and .894 SV% in March.

Jimmy Howard
Mrazek will start Thursday in Florida.

Mrazek stopped 42 of 43 shots in the Red Wings 5-1 win over the Penguins on Sunday. The 42 saves is a bit misleading as the Red Wings were in control of this game from start-to-finish. He has been very strong this season going 14-5-1 with a 2.47 GAA and .914 SV% and should make for a nice start tonight vs. a Panthers team he is already 1-0 against this season.

Petr Mrazek
Hiller starts Tuesday vs. St. Louis.

Hiller allowed three goals on 28 shots in the Flames dominating 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs last Friday. hiller has stopped 77 of the last 82 shots (.939 SV%) that he has faced. In his firsts tart against St. Louis, he allowed four goals on 39 shots in a 4-1 loss.
