Miller stopped 24 of 25 shots in a 4-1 win over Chicago on Sunday. It was his 13th win of the season, which ties him with two other for the most in the NHL right now. Miller ranks 27th in GAA (2.63)and 34th in SV% (.904) so he will continue to look for goal support from the NHL’s sixth ranked offence.
Tonight will mark Horvat’s ninth game of the season and he is here to stay. There was some speculation that he might be available for Team Canada in the World Juniors this December, but that won’t be the case. Horvat has looked like he has belonged and picked up one goal and three assists in his last two games.
Martinez was on for the Kings game day skate, but stayed on for extra work, which suggests he will be scratched for the fifth straight game. The fact that he was in the skate is a good sign that he is nearing a return, it just doesn’t look like it will be tonight. Monitor his status prior to tomorrow's game in Minnesota.
Lightning head coach Jon Cooper ruled Hedman out for Wednesday’s game, but thinks that Saturday is a possibility. Saturday is deemed the best case scenario, but monitor his status as the week goes along. He has been out since October 18th with a fractured finger.
McDonagh has been doing some skating by himself, but today was the first time he has skated with the team since separating his should on November 1st. McDonagh is expected to return to the Rangers blue line in early-December.
Smith was on the ice for Red Wings practice on Tuesday, but said after the skate that he probably won’t be medically cleared to play on Wednesday, but is feeling good. Smith is day-to-day.
Terry, 25, has totaled four goals and three assists (7 points) in 17 NHL games this season with the Hurricanes. HE ranked tied for sixth in the AHL in scoring in 2013-14 with a career-high 69 points (28g, 41a) in 70 games.
Howard gave up three goals on 26 shots in the Red Wings 4-3 win over the Senators on Monday. He has won six of his last 11 starts with a 2.17 GAA and .915 SV% over the the last month. He has been as steady as any goaltender through the first quarter of the year and is a strong start on Wednesday vs. a Flyers team who have lost five of their last six.
Datsyuk skated on the Red Wings’ third line with Darren Helm and Stephen Weiss at Tuesday’s practice, which is a good sign that he will replace Tomas Jurco in the Red Wings lineup tomorrow. A final decision on Datsyuk won't be made until after Wednesday's morning skate.
Pavelec allowed three goals on 28 shots in the Jets loss to the Blues on Sunday. He has lost his last five starts with an ugly 3.33 GAA and .884 SV%. Michael Hutchinson has badly outplayed him lately, so Pavelec better get back on track vs. the Sabres or he's going to be in danger of losing his job.
Andersen stopped 26 of 27 shots in the Ducks 2-1 victory over the Coyotes on Sunday. Tonight will set a new career-high for Andersen as he makes his ninth consecutive start. He is 2-1-4 with a 2.64 GAA and .898 SV% in his previous eight outings. The Ducks 2.63 goals for over that span explains the four extra time losses for Freddie.
Lehner stopped 30 of 33 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Blues on Saturday afternoon. With Craig Anderson getting the call on Monday night in Detroit, it will be Lehner to face the Blues once again, this time in St. Louis. Lehner has been good for the last week, stopped 63 of 68 (.926 SV%).
Jones allowed two goals on 27 shots in a loss to the Stars on November 13th. The Kings have a back-to-back tonight and tomorrow, so it looks like Jones will go tonight, which leaves Jonathan Quick for the Wild tomorrow. Jones is 1-2-0 with a 1.83 GAA and .928 SV% in limited playing time this season.
Smith stopped 28 of 30 shots in the Coyotes 2-1 loss to the Ducks on Sunday night. Smith has lost each of last six outings while posting a 2.86 GAA and .901 SV%. It has been a tumultuous start for the Canadian Olympian, who can’t seem to find any consistency in his game. At least tonight, he faces an Avalanche who rank 24th in scoring.
Fasth stopped 15 of 17 shots after replacing Ben Scrivens in the Blackhawks beatdown of the Oilers on Saturday. Fasth has not been spectacular, but he has won two of his last four starts with a 2.86 GAA and. 898 SV%. The Oilers are a mess right now, so it is hard to trust Fasth in Dallas tonight.
Bouwmeester will miss his second straight game tonight, however head coach Ken Hitchcock said the injury is not serious and if “it were a playoff game, he’d play.” After tonight the Blues are off until Friday, expect Bouwmeester to be back vs. the Oilers. Barrett Jackman will skate with Alex Pietrangelo.
As expected, Green will miss Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury that he suffered on Saturday. He did not practice today so it is unclear how long Green will be sidelined. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Lupul missed the last 12 games with a broken hand that he suffered on October 28th. He struggled before the injury, scoring just two goals and one assist in nine games. He has skated on the fourth line with Trevor Smith and David Booth over the last few days, so expect him to start there tomorrow vs. Pittsburgh.
There is no word on the severity of Ovechkin’s upper-body injury, but it sounds like it is not very serious and that it should no effect him in tomorrow’s game vs. the Islanders. He has just one goal and one assist in his last five games.
There is no word when Enstrom suffered the injury, but it will keep him out of tonight’s game vs. the Blue Jackets. Grant Clitsome will get into the lineup with Enstrom sidelined.
