NHL Hockey Player News

Haula (upper-body) will not play on Thursday.

Haula was injured on an illegal hit to the head from John Moore on Monday. Moore was suspended five games for the hit and now Haula will miss his second game in a row. The Wild announced that he did not suffer a concussion, but he is clearly too sore the play, regardless of what the injury is. He is day-to-day.

Erik Haula
Brodin (upper-body) will not play on Thursday.

There is still no word on exactly what is ailing Brodin after he crashed into the boards heavily on Monday. However, he won't be in the lineup for the second straight game and should be considered day-to-day until there is more information released on the severity of his injury.

Jonas Brodin
The Senators have recalled Andrew Hammond to back-up Craig Anderson on Thursday.

Robin Lehner will not suit up on Thursday because he is at the hospital with his wife expecting the birth of their child. Andrew Hammond has been recalled on an emergency basis and will likely be reassigned on Friday.

Andrew Hammond
Anderson will start Thursday for the Senators.

Anderson held Chicago to two goals on 45 shots in a 2-1 loss on Sunday. Despite the loss, it was a great game for Anderson who has posted a .944 SV% through his firs four starts. He will get another crack at the Blackhawks tonight. Traditionally this would be a bad matchup, but Chicago is struggling to score goals to start the season---just 2.33 G/PG (25th in the NHL).

Craig Anderson
Smith will start in goal on Thursday night.

Smith was yanked 50 mintues into Tuesday's contest after he allowed six goals on 33 shots in a 7-3 loss to the Lightning. After two nice outings in a row, Smith allowed six goals for the third time in six starts. He has a terrible 4.29 GAA and .858 SV% this season, but does draw a good matchup tonight vs. the Panthers. It is a matter of if you are brave enough to start him.

Mike Smith
Allen will be between the pipes for the Blues on Thursday.

Allen surrendered three goals on 22 shots in a 4-1 loss to Vancouver last Thursday. It was Allen's first loss of the season and he now sits at 1-1-0 with a 2.01 GAA and .915 SV%. The Blues team defense will help both Allen and Brian Elliott's numbers all season. He draws a tough matchup vs. the Ducks, but the Blues should be able to slow them down.

Jake Allen
Bishop starts in goal for the Lightning on Thursday.

Bishop allowed three goals on 25 shots in a 7-3 win over the Coyotes Tuesday. Bishop has yet to allow more than three goals in a start this season, so he carries a 2.31 GAA and .913 SV% into Thursday night. Bishop was able to coast to a win vs. Arizona, but it may not be so easy against a Flyers team that is starting to heat up.

Ben Bishop
Wilson will make his season debut tonight.

Wilson was originally listed as a game-time decision, but he will be in the lineup with Eric Fehr coming out of the lineup. He will start on the fourth line, but there was some chatter in the preseason that the Capitals were thinking about having him playing on the top line with Nicklas Backstrom and Alexander Ovechkin, so he might be someone to keep an eye on.

The Flames have recalled Markus Granlund from Adirondack (AHL).

Granlund, 21, has three goals and two assists in eight games with Adirondack this season. He played seven games with the Flames last season, recording two goals and one assist. The 2011 second round pick (45th overall) will likely centre the Flames third line on Thursday.

Markus Granlund
The Hurricanes have sent Brody Sutter to Charlotte (AHL).

Sutter, 23, got into three games during his most recent call-up, but has failed to record a point in four games. With Eric Staal retuning to the lineup on Tuesday, Sutter served as a healthy scratch, so he is heading back to the AHL.

The Hurricanes have sent Ryan Murphy to Charlotte (AHL).

Murphy, 21, has one assist and ranks second among Hurricanes defensemen with 13 shots on net in six games this season. He is in his second full professional season, after notching 12 points (2G / 10A) in 48 games for the Hurricanes in 2013-14. Carolina’s first-round selection in 2011 has totaled 13 points (2G / 11A) and 14 PIMs in 58 career NHL games.

Ryan Murphy
Panthers have been "very impressed" with Ekblad.

Ekblad has played in seven games and has two more games left before the Panthers have to decide whether or not to burn the first year of his entry level contract and keep him or send him back to juniors. "Unless he really collapses, I don't see him going anywhere," Panthers general manager Dale Tallontold NHL.com. "I've been very impressed with his composure and maturity. Once the regular season started, he was a different guy." Ekblad has averaged 21:54 TOI (2:22 PP TOI/GP) and recorded two assists with a minus-1 rating so far.

Aaron Ekblad
The Avalanche have recalled Dennis Everberg from Lake Erie (AHL).

Everberg, 22, had a great camp with the Avalanche and looked strong in the first five games of his NHL career, but was sent back to the minors where he recorded two goals and one assist in five games. He is now back with the Avalanche and will try and crack the lineup on Thursday.

Dennis Everberg
Stajan (knee) expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Stajan suffered the knee injury in a knee-on-knee collision with Jared Tinordi on Tuesday. There is no news on the nature of the injury, but it will keep him out for at least one month, potential longer. The original reports were that he might have suffered ligament damage, but that timeline does not suggest such an injury.

Matt Stajan
Fasth (groin) will meet with team doctors Wednesday to get final clearance to return to action.

Fasth has been out since October 14th when he suffered a groin injury vs. the Kings. Ben Scrivens has won each of his last four starts so Fasth will probably assume the role of the Oilers' back-up when he returns.

Viktor Fasth
The NHL has suspended John Moore for five games for his illegal check to the head of Erik Haula on Monday.

Moore is a repeat offender which is the reason for the five game suspension. Haula suffering an injury on the play also plays a hand in a lengthy suspension. Moore is not eligible to return to the lineup until Tuesday, November 11th against the Penguins.
