The Flyers have sent Chris VandeVelde back to Adirondack (AHL).

VandeVelde recorded one assist, eight shots, six penalty minutes and a minus-3 rating in 17 games with the Flyers. His assignment opens a roster spot for Zac Rinaldo to be activated from IR.

Chris VandeVelde
Lundqvist will make his second straight start vs. the Isles.

Lundqvist stopped 30 of 31 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Islanders at Yankee Stadium. He went 2-0 outdoors, but now he moves back indoors on Friday when he meets the Islanders again, this time at MSG. He will look to close out January on a high-note after going 7-3-1 with 1.99 GAA and .934 SV% in the first 11 outings.

Henrik Lundqvist
Jay Pandolfo has officially retired from the NHL.

Pandolfo has a heart-and-soul kind of player who was originally drafted by the Devils in the second round (#32 overall) in 1993. He spent 13 years with New Jersey where he totalled 99 goals and 124 assists (223 points) in 819 regular season games. He won two Stanley Cups in his time with the Devils and ended up playing two more NHL seasons with the Islanders and Bruins. He finished with 226 career regular season points (100G / 126A) in 899 games.

Franzen will not go to Sochi with Team Sweden because of concussion symptoms.

This is bad news for Sweden, but good news for the Red Wings and Franzen owners. This gives Franzen an extra couple of weeks to recover from his lingering concussion symptoms. He will likely be good-to-go following the Olympic break.

Johan Franzen
The Hurricanes have officially assigned Ward to Charlotte (AHL) for conditioning.

Ward will join the Checkers in Cleveland as they face the Lake Erie Monsters on Friday. Ward has missed the Hurricanes last 13 games with a lower-body injury. He has posted a 6-7-5 record, a 3.15 GAA and an .895 SV% in 19 games with Carolina this season. Ward is the Hurricanes franchise’s all-time leader in games played by a goaltender (450), wins (220) and shutouts (21). His last AHL stint was in December 2005, when he played two games with the Lowell Lock Monsters during a conditioning stint.

Cam Ward
Andersen was the first off at the Ducks morning skate.

Andersen was beat by one of 31 shots that he faced in last Thursday's 2-1 win over the Kings. In his last four starts (plus one relief appearance) he is 4-0-0 with a 1.60 GAA and .948 SV%. He is one of the best spot-start options in the NHL right now, so take advantage when he gets the nod.

Frederik Andersen
Quick is expected to start for the Kings.

Quick started both games of the Kings' Monday-Tuesday back-to-back. He stopped 49 of 52 shots (.942 SV%) resulting in a 1-1 record with one shutout. Tonight he will make a rare home start against Sidney Crosby and the Penguins, on a busy Thursday night, take a look at your other matchups before deploying Quick.

Jonathan Quick
Miller to start in goal for the Sabres.

Miller surrendered two goals on 33 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Penguins on Monday. He was given the second night of the back-to-back off, so it is no surprise that he will be back in tonight in Phoenix. He is 1-0 vs. the Coyotes this season and comes into play 3-3-2 with a 2.33 GAA and .924 SV% in January.

Ryan Miller
Schneider gets the nod for the Devils.

Schneider stopped 22 of 24 shots on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough as the Devils were downed 3-0 by the Blues. Schneider's lack of goal support comes as no surprise, he has had minimal help all season. He will take on a Stars team who have won three of their last four and are tied for eighth in NHL scoring (2.85 G/PG).

Jones has been reassigned to Abbotsford (AHL).

Jones cleared waivers this afternoon and has been sent to the AHL. He was a plus-1 in four games during his most recent time with the Flames. He has a total of two goals in 14 games wit Calgary and returns to the AHL where he has eight goals and 13 assists (21 points) in 16 games.

Blair Jones
Schneider likely to be in goal for the Devils.

Schneider stopped 22 of 24 shots on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough as the Devils were downed 3-0 by the Blues. Schneider's lack of goal support comes as no surprise, he has had minimal help all season. It looks like he will take on a Stars team who have won three of their last four and are tied for eighth in NHL scoring (2.85 G/PG).

Cory Schneider
Capitals head coach Adam Oates said the tentative plan is for Michal Neuvirth to start in Detroit Friday.

Neuvirth stopped 28 of 30 shots in a loss to the Devils last Friday. Neuvirth is 3-5-1 with a 2.79 GAA and .915 SV% heading into Friday's contest. Depending on what happens in tonight's game, there is a chance that Braden Holtby could start both games of the back-to-back, but for now the plan is for Neuvirth to go.

Michal Neuvirth
Ward (lower-body) will go to Charlotte and make some starts on a conditioning stint.

Ward has been out for a month and participated in his first full practice this morning. As he progresses his way back, the Hurricanes are expected to send him to Charlotte to make a few starts before returning to the NHL.

Cam Ward
Bishop gets the nod for the Lightning.

Bishop yielded three goals on 26 shots as he was out-duelled by Jonathan Bernier in Tuesday's 3-2 loss. It snapped a three game winning-streak and was the fourth time in his last five start that he has allowed at least three goals. Tonight he will face his former team in Ottawa, he is 2-0-0 with 1.92 GAA and .943 SV% against the Senators this season.

Ben Bishop
Clemmensen gets the call for the Panthers.

Clemmensen stopped 35 of 36 shots in a 5-1 win over the Penguins in his last start on January 20. He will give Tim Thomas a break tonight in Toronto. He has already defeated the Leafs once this season, stopping 28 of 29 shots in a 3-1 win in December.
