The Calgary Flames announced today that they have recalled Max Reinhart from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

Reinhart takes Galiardi's roster spot. He has 12 points in 19 games with the AHL Heat this season.

Granlund on IR

Granlund has been hit hard recently - courtesy of Nazem Kadri, Marc Methot, and Connor Murphy. Hopefully the time to recover will allow Granlund to get his game back. Brodziak may get more opportunity because of the Granlund injury but you can find better options on the waiver wire.

David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday the hockey club has signed forward Frederik Gauthier to a three-year entry level contract.

Gauthier was the Leafs' first pick in the 2013 Draft and 21 points in 23 games in the QMJHL this season. Expect the Leafs to take their time easing him into the lineup.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced during warmups on Wednesday night that Read had sustained a lower-body injury against the Panthers and is listed as day-to-day.

The injury appears to be in his foot as his skate boot won't fit. Prior to the injury, Read had 4 goals in his previous 3 games.

The Lightning seemed to dodge a bullet Wednesday as G Ben Bishop left the morning skate with a yelp of pain after taking a puck off his right hand near his thumb.

Excellent news for the Lightning and Bishop owners as it looks like he'll be able to make his next start. Bishop has a sparkling 14-3-1 record and is finally providing the Lightning with reliable goaltending.

Ben Bishop
Gionta (ankle) has been placed on injured reserve.

Gionta will miss his second straight game after suffering an ankle injury on Saturday. He is eligible to return on Saturday vs. Buffalo, but there is no indication if he will be ready or not. He has two assists in 21 games, so he is not fantasy relevant.

Stephen Gionta
Klesla has cleared waivers and will be sent to Portland (AHL).

Klesla, 31, is in his 12th season in the NHL and will head to the AHL after clearing waivers today. He hasten goal and two assists in 15 games this season. He has played 649 NHL games, but will reportedly report to Portland without any issue. He is expected to be recalled at some point this season.

The Ducks have reassigned Devante Smith-Pelly to Norfolk (AHL).

Smith-Pelly registered one goal and seven assists in 16 games while he was with the Ducks. He had been a healthy scratch for two of the last three games, so he's assignment is not as surprising as Emerson Etem's.

The Ducks have reassigned Emerson Etem to Norfolk (AHL).

Etem played in 24 of 27 games with the Ducks this season tallying six goals and four assists with a plus-2 rating. The Ducks did not give a reason as to why Etem is being sent down, but he will report to Norfolk along with Devante Smith-Pelly.

Matt Irwin in; Jason Demers out.

A healthy scratch for the last six games, Sharks defenseman Matt Irwin will return to the lineup against the Kings on Wednesday. “It’s just time to get him playing again. He shoots the puck a lot, he gives the power play a bit of a pop, and he’ll get that opportunity,” head coach Todd McLellan said. Irwin will be paired with Dan Boyle, while Justin Braun and Marc-Edouard Vlasic will reunite. The third pair will be Brad Stuart and Scott Hannan.

Matt Irwin
Scrivens vs. Niemi.

Scrivens allowed two goals on 39 shots in a win over the Canucks on Monday. It was his fifth win in eight starts since becoming the starter. He currently leads the NHL in GAA (1.44) and SV% (.947). Scrivens has a tough matchup on the road vs. the Sharks tonight.

Ben Scrivens
Ryan Malone (foot) was put on injured reserve with what is believed to be a chipped bone in his foot, sustained blocking a shot Friday against the Ducks.

Malone had already been ruled out for the weekend, so his placement on IR is no surprise. It allowed the Lightning to recall right wing Dana Tyrell from AHL Syracuse. If Malone does have a chipped bone, he will miss more than just the weekend. Monitor his status as the weekend approaches.

Mike Kostka
Oduya (leg) will play tonight.

Oduya missed practice on Tuesday after blocking a shot in Monday's win over the Oilers. He is averaging 20:27 TOI on the Blackhawks second paring and is enjoying a strong start to the season. He has two goals and seven points in 25 games (on pace for 23 points), his career high is 29 in 2008-09.
