The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled Elias Lindholm from Charlotte (AHL).

Lindholm, 18, was selected fifth overall in the 2013 NHL Draft had one goal and one assist in 10 games with the Hurricanes before being sent to Charlotte. With the Checkers he posted a goal and two assists in six games. He arrives in town to help revive Carolina's struggling power-play. They rank 28th in the NHL with a 11.9% success rate on the PP. Chris Terry has been returned to the AHL to make room for Lindholm.

Bishop starts in Anaheim.

Bishop gave up five goals on 31 shots in a loss to the Kings on Tuesday. It was his second rough outing that resulted in a loss but he will look to snap the Lightning's three game skid tonight vs. Anaheim. He stopped 24 of 25 shots in a win over the Ducks in Tampa Bay on November 14.

Ben Bishop
Howard who was scheduled to start for the Red Wings was a late scratch because of the flu.

All Red Wings beat reporters confirmed Howard to start tonight, but he came down with the flu and Jonas Gustavsson ended up getting the start. Monitor Howard's status prior to Saturday's contest vs. the Senators, it all depends how long the flu sticks around wether or not it will be Howard or 'The Monster' vs. Ottawa.

Jimmy Howard
The Flames have traded Tim Jackman to the Ducks for a 2014 6th round pick.

Jackman is 6-foot-4, 220 lbs. fourth line forward. He had one goal and 41 penalty minutes while averaging 6:23 TOI in 10 games with the Flames. The 32-year-old tough-guy has skated in 400 career NHL games and has spent the last four season with Calgary. He is not fantasy relevant but brings some toughness to the Ducks.

Tim Jackman
Niemi starts for the Sharks.

Niemi gave up five goals on 27 shots in a loss to the Blackhawks on Sunday. A matchup with Chicago is never an easy one, but the loss marked his sixth in his last seven starts. Tonight he faces the Lightning who are 0-2-0 on their current road-trip and have been outscored 11-5 in those two losses.

Antti Niemi
Sharks will face Lindback in goal as Lightning apparently going with Ben Bishop tomorrow night in Anaheim.

Linback allowed two goals on 15 shots in a relief effort on Sunday. He has not started since November 11 when he gave up two goals on 25 shots in a loss to the Bruins. Lindback is 1-4-0 with a 3.16 GAA and .875 SV% this season. He has a tough matchup tonight on the road vs. San Jose.

Anders Lindback
Brunner will be a healthy scratch tonight.

Mattias Tedenby will enter the lineup in Brunner's place tonight vs. Los Angeles. Brunner has failed to record a point in the last 10 games. He had seven points in the first 10 contests but has cooled off considerably. The entire New Jersey offence has struggled and ranks 25th in scoring.

Damien Brunner
Thomas vs. Dubnyk tonight in Edmonton.

Thomas allowed two goals on 29 shots in a big shootout win over the Canucks on Tuesday. It was Thomas' second straight win and third in his last four starts. He gets the nod tonight against a skilled Oilers team who put up seven against Columbus on Tuesday.

Berra starts on Friday.

Berra allowed two goals on 18 shots in a 2-1 OT loss to the Blue Jackets on Wednesday. Berra did have one incredible bicycle-kick looking save that should be a save of the year candidate, but he was still on the wrong end of the score board for the sixth time in eight appearances. Berra has a solid matchup tomorrow vs.Florida.

Reto Berra
Optional skate this morning, only a few guys on the ice, but Lindback was first if two goalies off the ice.

Leaving the ice first at an optional does not mean Lindback will start, hopefully head coach Jon Cooper will announce his starter after the skate. Linback allowed two goals on 15 shots in a relief effort on Sunday. He has not started since November 11 when he gave up two goals on 25 shots in a loss to the Bruins. Lindback is 1-4-0 with a 3.16 GAA and .875 SV% this season.

Anders Lindback
Head coach Todd McLellan essentially confirmed that Burns would make his return to the lineup after missing exactly one month. "He's going to come off of [injured reserve], so there's a real good chance that he will play. We'll see how he is when he comes to the rink, but he's telling me now that he's ready. He looks ready, and right now he is."

Burns has been scratched for the last 13 games, after taking a series of high hits that included a whack in the face from Ottawa goaltender Robyn Lehner on Oct. 12. He had four goals and four assists in his first eight games on a line with Thornton and Tomas Hertl, with seven of his eight points coming at even strength.

Brent Burns
Smith starts vs. Colorado.

Smith surrendered three goals on 30 shots but still walked away with the win over Saturday. The W moved him to 8-0-1 with a 2.39 GAA and .921 SV% at home this season. Tonight the Coyotes welcome the Avalanche to town for the first time this season. It is a tough matchup for Smith, but his home record suggests he should have a strong night.

Mike Smith
Scrivens gets another start for Kings.

Scrivens allowed two goals on 21 shots against Tampa Bay on Tuesday for his fourth straight win. Since becoming the Kings starter he is 4-0-0 with a 0.99 GAA and .963 SV%. These numbers are expected to drop closer to his career numbers (2.58 / .916) but he remains a viable fantasy option as the Kings number-1.
