NHL Hockey Player News

Based on line rushes, looks like Doan is in. Skating with Vernmette and Klinkhammer. We'll see what he says after the skate.

Doan missed Tuesday with lower-body injury, but should be back in the lineup tonight. The longtime Coyote still skates in the top-6 but is not the player he used to be. He has just one goal and two assists in nine games.

Shane Doan
Lupul is day-to-day with a bruised foot.

Lupul took a Paul Ranger shot off of the foot at practice today. X-rays came back negative and he will travel with the team to Columbus. If Lupul can't play tomorrow, Josh Leivo will be inserted into the lineup.

Joffrey Lupul
No Erik Johnson at practice today. That bruised foot he suffered in Wednesday’s practice proved too much to get on the ice.

Tyson Barrie looks like he’ll get the call to replace Johnson in the lineup tomorrow against Carolina, if Johnson can’t play. He is getting time on the power-play unit and has been paired opposite Jan Hejda in practice.

Erik Johnson
Khabibulin will start for the Blackhawks.

Khabibulin won his only start this season on October 11th. He stopped 19 of 21 shots in the W over the Islanders. The Lightning pose some problems matchup wise but were just shut out by the Bruins. If you're desperate Khabibulin might be a good spot start option on Thursday.

Harding starts, Backstrom backup.

Harding stopped all 16 shots that he faced for his first shutout of the season. He has been amazing since taking over the number-one job posting a 0.96 GAA and .953 SV% in eight games. Harding will take on a Hurricanes team who have won two straight.

Holtby vs. Dubnyk.

Holtby allowed four goals on Tuesday, but faced 47 shots in the contest. It was his sixth straight game of having at least a .900 SV%, and it looks like things are starting to come together for Holtby. Although the Oilers are banged up they still score, this one could be too high scoring.

Braden Holtby
Pavelec gets the nod for the Jets.

Pavelec allowed four goals on 32 shots in a loss to the Capitals on Tuesday. He will be back in goal tonight vs the Predators. He faced Nashville on Sunday and allowed three goals on 26 shots in a losing effort. He gets another crack at backup Carter Hutton, with Pekka Rinne out for at least a month.

Ondrej Pavelec
Ward starts tonight.

Ward stopped 22 of 25 shots in a win over the Islanders on Saturday, it was his second consecutive win. After being peppered in his first five starts, the Hurricanes have tightened up defensively, making things easier on Ward. He has a decent matchup vs. Minnesota's 24th ranked offence (2.10 G/PG)

Cam Ward
Loui Eriksson update: dealing with concussion-like symptoms (headache), but is expected to return to Boston today.

Eriksson won't be available when the Bruins take on the Sharks tonight. He left Wednesday's game after being hit high by Sabres forward John Scott. Brad Marchand moves back to the second line with Eriksson out.
