Luongo will start for the Canucks.

The Canucks were dominated by the Sharks in their season opener, leading to Luongo facing 35 shots. He allowed four goals and Vancouver lost 4-1. Luongo actually looked good in the contest despite the not so good looking numbers. Tonight they will face a youthful Oilers team still with pivots Sam Gagner and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Luongo should be a fine option on this busy NHL night.

Roberto Luongo
Joey MacDonald will start the Flames home opener tomorrow night.

Karri Ramo was expected to see the majority of the starts this season but while he struggled a bit in the first game, MacDonald did enough to get the win on Friday night. He allowed three goals on 32 shots (.906 SV%) in the 4-3 win over Columbus. MacDonald will face a tougher test with the Canucks tomorrow.

Boone Jenner did not last long on the Blue Jackets top line. He was dropped to the third line after head coach Todd Richards thought the game was a bit quick for him early on. He said Jenner got better as the game progressed, but Blake Comeau skated most of the game alongside Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik.

Jenner finished with 12 shifts and 10:27 of ice time, but he was noticeable on several occasions. He does not hold much fantasy value on the third line.

Boone Jenner
Kari Lehtonen gets the nod for the Stars.

Lehtonen played well in the season opener vs. Florida. He stopped 35 of 38 shots but the Stars offense was shutdown, a problem they will look to fix tonight against the Capitals. This game has the makings of a shootout. Washington has scored nine goals in their first two games, but have also allowed 10. Lehtonen might get some offense in front of him tonight, but should be under siege most of the night.

Kari Lehtonen
Hoaward will start for the Red Wings.

Howard allowed two goals on 25 shots in a 3-2 overtime win over the Hurricanes. Howard is now 2-0 on the season with a 1.47 GAA and .933 SV%, a great start for Red Wings netminder. He will have the toughest challenge to date when the Wings take on the Bruins in Boston.

Jimmy Howard
Niemi will start for the Sharks.

Niemi had an easy day at the office in his first start. The Sharks were all over the Canucks and held them to just 22 shots. Niemi allowed one goal in the 4-1 win. He is going to get a ton of starts for a good team this year, he could be a Vezina candidate at season's end.

Burrows will not play tonght, he is out for a few weeks. The Canucks classified Burrow's absence from practice yesterady as a maintenance day and that he was just banged up. Apparently that was not the case and Burrows will miss some time with an undisclosed injury.

With Zack Kassian who suspended for the first five games of the season as their only extra forward on their roster, the Canucks will dress seven defenseman tonight.

Alexandre Burrows
With Teemu Selanne being scratched from tonight's game to keep the 43-year-old fresh, Dustin Penner will draw back into the lineup.

There has been no word on how Selanne being benched will shake up the Ducks' lines, but my best guess would be we will see Penner on Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry's line.

Jonas Hiller will start for the Ducks.

Hiller will get his first start of the season after Viktor Fasth was given the opening night nod. He gets the call against a Wild team he had success against last year. He was 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .953 SV% vs. Minnesota. The Ducks will look to bounce back after an embarrassing 6-1 defeat at the hands of the Avalanche.

Jonas Hiller
Mike Smith is the starter for the Coyotes.

Smith is 1-0 on the season after stopping 23 of 24 shots in a 4-1 win over the Rangers on Thursday. He will have a tough challenge tonight against the San Jose Sharks. Smith was great against the Sharks last season though. He was 2-0-0 with a 0.48 GAA, .985 SV% and one shutout, so maybe the matchup is not as bad as it looks.

Mike Smith
Niemi expected to get the start for the Sharks tonight.

Niemi had an easy day at the office in his first start. The Sharks were all over the Canucks all night and held them to just 22 shots. Niemi allowed one goal in the 4-1 win. He is going to get a ton of starts for a good team this year, he could be a Vezina candidate at the end of the year.
