NHL Hockey Player News

According to Todd McLellan, there’s a “good chance” the 27-year-old German will play against the Ducks on Monday in Anaheim.

The Sharks have a back-to-back on Monday and Tuesday and it is likely that Greiss gets the start tonight against Anaheim and Niemi against the Blackhawks tomorrow. Check back closer to game-time for confirmation.

Thomas Greiss
Backstrom will start for the Wild.

With Josh Harding struggling early this season it looks like Backstrom is going to get a chance to take the #1 job and run with it. Backstrom has a good matchup tonight against the Coyotes. The Wild shuffled their lines today so they're hoping for some more offensive production to help Backstrom. He is a good start tonight.

Niklas Backstrom
Reimer gets the nod tonight for the Maple Leafs.

Tonight will be Reimer's 5th straight start (2-2 in the last 4.). Reimer is the apparent #1 in Toronto now and has been playing very well and has actually turned into a decent fantasy option. As long as he continues to get the starts he could be useful in fantasy as long as you play the match-ups.

James Reimer
Lehtonen will start for the Stars.

Lehtonen (3-2-1, 2.62 GAA, .924 SV%) finally got a win after a 4 game losing skid and will be back between the pipes tonight after getting the Stars last game off. He has played better than his numbers would suggest but also has let in some softies. He has a good matchup tonight against the Avs.

Kari Lehtonen
Miller will start for the Sabres.

Miller got lit up yesterday by the Habs but the Sabres are going to go back to him again today against Florida. The Sabres are giving up the most shots per game in the NHL right now which makes it tough on Miller. However the Panthers make for a pretty easy matchup.

Ryan Miller
Luongo will start tomorrow against the Oilers.

This goalie controversy keeps getting better with each passing game. Luongo will start his 4th straight game and is coming off of back to back wins. He has only allowed 3 goals in the last 3 games and is a must-start while he is hot.

Roberto Luongo
Coach Sacco says Ryan Wilson has an ankle injury and is out indefinitely. Home gm tomorrow night vs Dallas.

Wilson has 3 assists and is a +6 in 8 games this season. He has never scored more than 21 points in a season so he isn't a great fantasy option but was off to a good start this season.

Ryan Wilson
Brian Elliott will start at least next two games. Hitch expects Halak to be ready by the weekend. #stlblues

This is good news for fantasy owners of Elliott as he will be guaranteed the next two starts. Elliott is 3-2-0 with a 2.34 GAA and .900 SV% not bad numbers for Elliott but not as good as Halak. This is a mini audition for Elliott, if he plays well in these two games he will likely see more starts going forward.

#Isles Head Coach Jack Capuano announces Nabokov in net tonight against the #njdevils

Nabokov is 4-0-1 in his last 5 starts and has a 3.14 GAA and .906 SV% on the season. His numbers leave little to be desired but he is giving the Islanders a chance to win and they are capitalizing. If Nabby can cut down on the goals against he could be a decent fantasy option.

Evgeni Nabokov
Nabokov is the likely starter for the Islanders.

No confirmation on whether or not Nabby will be the starter but it appears as if he will be.

Wolski-Ribeiro-Ovechkin.

Ribeiro leads the Capitals with 8 points (1 G, 7 A) and has been the lone bright spot in an otherwise gloomy start for the Capitals. The Caps are hoping his playmaking will set up some scoring chances for Ovechkin to get off the cold-streak he is on right now.
