NHL Hockey Player News

Cam Ward will start in goal for the home opener.

Ward was pulled after allowing 4 goals to the Panthers in the season opener, but Hurricanes coach Kirk Muller shows confidence in Cam Ward to bounce back. The Hurricanes are still expected to be a playoff team this year so Ward just be just fine. Start with confidence.

Cam Ward
The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired forward Jean-Francois Jacques from the Florida Panthers in exchange for future considerations.

Jacques has appeared in 24 games this season with San Antonio of the American Hockey League and has collected five goals with two assists. He has no fantasy relevance.

Jonas Gustavsson, who played 18:45 in relief of Jimmy Howard on Saturday, won't dress the next two games due to a sore groin that he said is common for him at the start of a season

Howard will start the next 2 games at least for the Red Wings. Thomas McCollum will serve as backup.

Jonas Gustavsson
Panthers José Théodore will face the Senators tonight.

Théodore had a great start to the season making 41 saves on 42 shots in a 5-1 win over the Hurricanes. The Sens were also winners in their season opener so one of these teams will lose their first of the season... Will it be Théodore or Anderson?

Rinne is expected to start tonight against the Blues.

Rinne lost in a shootout in the season opener against the Blue Jackets. The Blues dismantled the Red Wings in their opener, will be a tough opponent for Rinne. He is still a must-start in all formats but be weary of the Blues.

Pekka Rinne
Rask will start for Bruins this afternoon vs Jets.

The Bruins and Rask looked great in their season opener against the Rangers, and should play well all season. Rask is the unquestioned #1 in Boston now and should be one of fantasy's top goaltending options throughout the year. Start with confidence.

Tuukka Rask
Miller left the ice first so there's your confirmation he's in. #sabres

Miller got the win yesterday over the Flyers making 27 saves on 29 shots. The Sabres have 3 games in these next 5 days, so Miller is likely to start 2 of these next 3. Miller and the Sabres could have a good season so make sure Miller is in your lineup.

Ryan Miller
Kris Versteeg not on trip for #FlaPanthers

Versteeg who missed the Panthers season opener with an undisclosed injury and won't play again tonight against the Sens. Tough start to the season for the winger who got off to such a hot start last season. Monitor his status to get a better idea of how injured he is, but he should be a solid fantasy contributer once he returns to the lineup.

Kris Versteeg
Capuano said Nabokov will play today for Isles.

Nabokov played wiell in the season opener against the Devils, stopping 26 of the 28 shots he faced. However the Isles are soft on defense and aren't expected to win many games this season, which really handicaps Nabokov's fantasy value.

Evgeni Nabokov
#CBJ netminder Sergei Bobrovsky will make his second straight start and his home debut vs #redwings.

Bobrovsky isn't officially the #1 in Columbus yet but after making 32 saves in Nashville for the Shootout win, and now the Blue Jackets going back to him today.... Looks like he is well on his way. CBJ needs to keep winning to make Bobrovsky fantasy relevant, but keep an eye on him.

Sergei Bobrovsky
