RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled goaltender Mike Murphy from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Expect Murphy to backup Justin Peters with Cam Ward day-to-day.

Bishop heads back to the AHL with Jaroslav Halak. If traded, the big starting goalie could fill right into an NHL team.

Eric Staal has points in his last five games.
Staal is finally living up to his billing under coach Kirk Muller. The captain now has 16 goals and 46 points in 59 games.

Jiri Tlusty has a seven-game point streak.
Tlusty now has career highs across the board with 14 goals and 25 points on the season. Considering he received first line minutes, this production may not be shortlived.
Goaltender Brian Boucher, out since Dec. 6 with a lower-body injury, has been back on the ice working and is set to rejoin team practices this week. It's possible Boucher could be available during the homestand, although his status for tonight's game won't be known until the skate.
Boucher has been practicing for a few weeks now so his return should come shortly. It will be interesting to see what the club does with its three goalies.

Ward was said to be day-to-day.
Ward has a minor groin tweak which may keep him out of the crease tonight.
Nikolai Khabibulin in the first 20 minutes before the beleaguered starting goalie took a seat at the end of the bench with what the team said was a tweaked groin, but it might also have been exhaustion.
Sounds like Khabibulin will miss a game or two due to this groin strain.
Goalie Start
Kevin Poulin , who made 33 saves in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Hurricanes and likely will get the call in goal Monday.
In two career starts against the Sens, Poulin has a 1-0-0 record with a 3.36 GAA and .881 SV%.
Injury
Nabokov (flu) has missed the last two games and Sunday's practice. He likely won't be well enough to play in Monday's Coliseum matinee against Ottawa or Tuesday's game in Buffalo.
Nabokov, age 36, probably needs a practice or two before returning to the crease. Safe to say he misses tomorrow's matinee.
Injury
Saw Fisher after the game. Did not look good.
Fisher could miss more than a game due to his sudden illness. The two-way center scored 17 goals and 34 points in 50 games.
Goalie Start
Kari Lehtonen, who has played nine games in 16 days is expected to get the start on Tuesday against Montreal, per Glen Gulutzan.
In 11 career starts against the Habs, Lehtonen has a 6-4-1 record with a 2.68 GAA, .912 SV% and one shutout.
Brenden Morrow's return looking like first week of March.
Morrow will miss at least another 10 days. While battling through injuries most of the season, the left wing has eight goals and 22 points in 43 games. Tomas Vincour has moved into the top-six in his stead.
Sheldon Souray skating and is 50-50 to play Tuesday.
Souray remains day-to-day with his foot injury. The veteran defender has been limited to only 46 games -- due to various injuries -- but has made the most of it with five goals and 18 points. Look for Mark Fistric to stay in.
Jamie Benn won't play Tuesday, but will travel with team on upcoming road trip.
Benn will miss his third consecutive game. However, travelling with the team indicates he should draw in shortly. The top line center scored 17 goals and 49 points through 51 games.
