Alex Steen didn’t skate Sunday morning and his timetable for a return is unclear. I’m wondering if he went too hard when he first got back on the ice several weeks ago? Considering he appears to be further away today than he was at one point in January it might make sense.
Sounds like Steen has no timetable for his return after almost getting back into the lineup weeks ago. He has 13 goals and 24 points in 36 games. Stay tuned for a further update.
Jason Arnott continues to skate on his own and is eligible to come off IR anytime. He needs to strengthen his shoulder back up to where he can shoot and take a hit. As of yesterday he was feeling better but still isn’t quite there.
Arnott is getting closer so consider him an option to return this week. He has 12 goals and 24 points through 49 games.

Halak will start Tuesday in Columbus.
In eight career starts against the Blue Jackets, Halak has a 5-2-1 record with a 2.94 GAA and .896 SV%.

In 22 career starts against the Habs, Ward has a 12-7-3 record with a 2.77 GAA and .913 SV%.
Sounds like CGY C Mikael Backlund (upper body injury suffered Sat vs. VAN) will be out at least a month, but should get official word today.
Backlund was recently skating on the second line due to the Blair Jones injury. The Flames are now down two of their top four centermen. The sophmore scored four goals and 11 points in 41 games.

Clutterbuck is questionable to play tomorrow, leading to the call up of Foucault. Not skating today is definitely not a good sign. Through 51 games, the grinder has 13 goals and 20 points.

Safe to say Jonas Gustavsson starts tomorrow in Calgary.
In three career appearances against the Flames, Gustavsson has a 0-2-0 record with a 4.05 GAA and .875 SV%.
“I saw (Fedotenko) when we just came in,” Tortorella said Sunday. “He said he was feeling better today. I would think he would come on the trip. I would think he’d come on the trip.”
Good news as Fedotenko travelling indicates he should be able to play sometime soon. He has seven goals and 14 points in 51 games.
