Fleury will start vs. the Hurricanes.

Fleury was a few minutes away from a second straight shutout, until a Thomas Vanek batted the puck out of the air and passed the Pens netminder. In his first two games Fleury has allowed just one goal on 48 shots (.979 SV%). He has a solid matchup vs. the Hurricanes.

Marc-Andre Fleury
Bernier vs. Varlamov in Toronto.

Bernier has been rock solid in his first two appearances as a Maple Leaf. He allowed just one goal on 32 shots in his Leafs debut and followed that up by stopping all 15 shots he faced in a relief effort on Saturday. He is 2-0 with a 0.64 GAA and .979 SV% early in the 2013-14 season. He will face the 2-0 Avalanche who's Semyon Varlamov has been equally as good.

Jonathan Bernier
Ward likely to get the start for the Hurricanes.

Ward played well stopping 35 of 38 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Red Wings on Friday. Anton Khudobin was given the following start so it is a near certainty that Ward will be in the cage tonight vs. Pittsburgh. He stopped 26 of 27 shots in a winning effort in his only start vs. the Penguins last year.

Cam Ward
Nugent-Hopkins shoulder seemed to be fine last night as he played 28+ minutes in his first action of the season.

RNH recorded six shots and had a power-play goal in the Oilers comeback win. After a successful rookie season, his sophomore year was nothing to write home about. One-goal in one-game is a solid way to start the season for the 2011 first overall pick.

The Capitals have recalled Michael Latta from the Hershey Bears (AHL)

Latta made his NHL debut in the season opener at Chicago but was assigned to the Bears before he could make a second appearance after Washington picked up defenseman Alexander Urbom off waivers. He recorded a goal and an assist in Hershey’s season opener Saturday night, a 4-3 overtime loss to the Adirondack Phantoms.

The 28-year-old Callahan, who missed the season opener, will be back in the lineup for the Rangers' tilt against the Los Angeles Kings. It will be his first game since undergoing off-season surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Callahan had 16 goals and 15 assists in 45 games with the Rangers last season.

Ryan Callahan
The Los Angeles Kings have signed Scott Sabourin to a three-year, entry level contract.

The undrafted 21-year-old made his professional debut with Manchester at the end of the 2012-13 season after the completion of his 20-year-old season with the Oshawa Generals (30G-20A-50P in 65 games) and had signed a two-year contract with the Monarchs in April.

Scott Sabourin
The Los Angeles Kings will go with the same lineup as in the first two games - Quick will start.

Quick will look to rebound tonight after a rough start on Friday. He allowed four goals on 27 shots in a 5-3 loss to the Jets. Quick now sports a 3.26 GAA and .893 SV% early in the 2013-14 season. He will face the 0-1-0 Rangers, who only scored one goal in their first game.

Jonathan Quick
Lundqvist starts for the Rangers.

The New York Rangers are the only team in the NHL who have not played their second game yet, and have not played since Thursday. Lundqvist did not have the greatest start in his season opener, allowing four goals on 32 shots in the 4-1 loss to the Coyotes. Tonight he will face the 1-1-0 LA Kings in their home opener.

Henrik Lundqvist
Jason Spezza was absent from practice this morning but Senators head coach said it was just a maintenance day for their captain. However he also added that the maintenance day was in relation to his sore groin that hampered him in the preseason.

Although he was absent from practice, Spezza will play on Wednesday in Los Angeles. He has averaged 18:05 in the first two games, with one goal and 11 shots.

Jason Spezza
Ryan Hamilton in; Ryan Smyth out.

With the ageing Smyth struggling out of the gate, Hamilton draws into the lineup tonight vs. New Jersey. Hamilton had 30 goals and 18 assists (48 points) in 56 games under Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins as a Toronto Marlie last season.

Ryan Hamilton
Coach Claude Julien said Carl Söderberg skated earlier today though he did not join the team on the ice for practice.

Apparently Söderberg did actually skate this morning, just not with his Bruins teammates. This is a good sign that his recovery is going well. He could return to the lineup on Thursday.
