Brown is really consistent and should be in for another mid-50 point season.

Domi had a good preseason and looked like he may make the team. However he has been sent back to the OHL and will not have any fantasy relevance this season.

The second overall pick in last year's draft probably could have played for the Blue Jackets last season if he had not hurt his shoulder. He is a complete defenseman who will have an impact this year. He had 17 points in 23 games on a WHL blueline last season, he should be able to translate his game into the NHL right away.

"Based on what they were able to do and how they were able to play as a group, I would be foolish to try and experiment with (Jenner) now somewhere else, just because they worked so well together.” Jenner was the 37th overall pick in 2011 and has yet to play a regular season NHL game. As long as he is on the first line, he is worthy of a roster spot in very-deep leagues.

Laughton can remain with the Flyers for nine games because of his junior eligibility and then the club has to make a decision to either keep him or return him to Oshawa. If Laughton remains, his NHL contract would kick in immediately.

Gilbert, 30, had three goals and 13 points in 43 games for the Minnesota Wild in 2012-13. He joined the Wild in a midseason trade the previous campaign after parts of six seasons with the Edmonton Oilers.

Boyes, who had 10 goals and 25 assists with the Islanders last year had a great camp with Florida. Boyes has been playing with Kris Versteeg and rookie Alexsander Barkov in the preseason, so it appears that will be a line to start the season. “He’s a scorer and he has to play with skill players, complementary guys,” GM Dale Tallon said. “Obviously we didn’t score very much last year. We need guys who can put the puck in the net and make plays. He’s one of those guys who can do that. Colborne was originally drafted in the first round (16th overall) in the 2008 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins. Last season he scored 14 goals and added 28 assists for 42 points in 65 games for the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League in addition to playing five games with the Maple Leafs. Centre is an organizational weak link in Calgary, so the expectation is that Colborne will be in the starting line-up when the Flames open the season next Thursday.

Lindholm was selected with the fifth overall pick in this year's draft. Lindholm has some of the best hands available in this year's draft. Keep an eye on Lindholm early in the season, he would be a great pickup (especially in a keeper league) if he sticks with Carolina.

Rutherford also said the the injury has nothing to do with Ruutu's hip that required surgery in May. The week-to-week status suggests he will not be available for the Hurricanes season opener and could miss more than a few games to start the season. While Ruutu has had a hard time staying healthy in the past two years (missed 41 games combined) he had 57 points in 82 games in 2010-11. Once he is healthy he should become fantasy relevant again.

The team announced they’ve released the eight-year veteran from his professional tryout agreement. After spending the past three-and-a-half injury-riddled seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, he was hoping to latch on with the Blues as a puck-moving defenseman. Instead, he wasn’t able to generate much offense in his limited preseason action.
“I feel good,'' DeKeyser said. “I kind of twisted it a little bit in the last game but it's kind of precautionary, a little sore after that. Make sure it's 100 percent before I get out there again.'' He might skate Saturday morning but will not play in the preseason finale at Toronto later that night.

Vokoun was released from hospital earlier this week after having surgery to remove a blood clot from his pelvis.
Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett said if Domi makes the roster it’s going to be because he and General Manager Don Maloney believe Domi can contribute significantly. This means if he makes the team he will not be stuffed on the 4th line playing small minutes, he will likely skate amongst the top-6. Monitor Domi's status because if he makes the team he could be a great late-round pick or waiver wire addition.

Emery will be in a battle for starts with Steve Mason, but it appears Emery has the upper hand and will start the Flyers season opener.

"It looks like Seth Jones will play in their top-four alongside Weber," David Boclair of the Nashville Post said. Jones is a great puck moving D-man and playing alongside Weber makes him an intriguing late round pick.

Tinordi might not play on October 2nd, but he has cracked the 23-man roster. When Davis Drewiske went down with an injury the door opened for the 6-foot-6, 21 year old. Tinordi had two assists and was a plus-5 in eight games with the Habs last season.

Kreider has been average during the preseason and might have played himself off of New York's roster. “A lot of players are close but really haven’t shown me they can play at this level on a consistent basis,” head coach Alain Vigneault said. “There are still guys [with a chance] who are going to play [against the Kings] but they have to play better.”
