Duchene continues to progress but likely needs a few more practices before getting back into the lineup. In 39 games before getting hurt, the former 3rd overall pick scored 12 goals and 24 points.
Avalanche winger Peter Mueller (torso) is expected to skate Friday morning with the team and could return after a one-game absence against the Oilers.
The Avs reported Mueller as day-to-day with a torso injury but insisted he would play on Wednesday night. He might miss another game or two if they stay consistent with their cryptic updates. He has five goals and seven points in 15 games.
Goalie Start
Desjardins, who has been hurt most of the season but was recently activated by the Monsters, will serve as backup to Semyon Varlamov when the Avs play the Edmonton Oilers Friday at Rexall Place.
In four career starts against the Oilers, Varlamov has a 1-3-0 record with a 3.05 GAA and .891 SV%.

The Stars have traded Defenseman Nicklas Grossman to Philadelphia for a 2012 2nd round pick and a 2013 3rd round pick.
Grossman gives the Flyers another steady defender on their blue line. He has five assists through 52 games. Look for Adam Pardy to take his spot on the blue line.

Sounds like Peckham should be an option to play for the Oilers shortly. He has a goal and three points with 74 PIM in 46 games.
He said defenseman Matt Gilroy (hand) is ready to go and defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron (back) is improving.
Don't expect to see Bergeron in tonight despite his progress. He has four goals and 24 points in 43 games.

The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
