Injury
Chris Conner, out since Dec. 13 with a broken hand, might return this week. Patrick Eaves, who suffered a broken jaw when hit by a shot against Nashville on Nov. 26, was scheduled to return in late January.
Conner continues to skate with the team so don't expect him to need much more time to recover. The veteran AHLer added some speed to the third line and should still have a place in the lineup.
Jan Mursak, out since Sept. 25 with a fractured ankle, is scheduled to begin a two-week conditioning stint with the Grand Rapids Griffins, possibly immediately after the NHL roster freeze is lifted on Tuesday. Mursak was expected to play five games for the Griffins before returning to Detroit.
Expect Mursak to reenter the forward mix in a matter of weeks.

Desharnais gets different linemates for basically the first time all season. The diminutive playmaker has five goals and 21 points through 32 games.

Schenn felt no ill affects of his concussion and has been eager to return for some time now. Schenn has no points through six games with a minus-6 rating and may get yet another conditioning stint when healthy

The Flyers continue to bring their top prospect back slowly. Couturier scored five goals and nine points before getting hit with a slapshot from teammate Kimmo Timonen.
Wojtek wolski very close to returning from sports hernia. How it responds tomorrow will go a long way in determining if he plays this week.
Wolski last played on November 3rd. It will be interesting to see where he fits in the lineup moving forward.
Staal says he still needs to work on conditioning. Not ready for grind of playing 25 minutes per night.
It may take Staal a few weeks to get back to his desired fitness level. The All-Star defenseman is hoping to get back into the lineup at some point this season.

In 39 career appearances against the Isles, Lundqvist has a 22-11-5 record with a 2.23 GAA, .919 SV% and three shutouts.

In 26 career appearances against the Canes, Hedberg sports a 13-7-2 record with a 2.74 GAA, .908 SV% and two shutouts.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
