Kris Russell returned to practice after missing the previous two days with an undisclosed injury.
Russel scored two goals and three points over 12 games this season. Although he's been a healthy scratch in the past the Blue Jackets need him to step up in order to succeed.
Carter, who skated in the Ice Haus before the team practice began, will need another day to determine if he’s ready to play against Chicago on Thursday. His fractured foot is still at issue, but signs are point toward the former All-Star soon returning to provide a much-needed boost to the foundering Jackets.
Carter has been out of the lineup for nine of the team's 14 games. He could return to the lineup on Thursday but stay tuned for a further update.
#Sens GM Bryan Murray says captain Daniel Alfredsson is feeling good, took his baseline test today, but is still awaiting the results.
Alfie looked good prior to the injury with four goals and seven points over his first 10 games. He should miss a few more games due to this concussion.

Panthers top prospect Jonathan Huberdeau sustained a broken foot during Monday’s morning skate in preparation for a Subway Series game pitting Team QMJHL and Russia.
Huberdeau has no fantasy hockey value due to his demotion but it is always good to watch the top prospects in hockey.

McBain gets back into the game following a healthy scratch. The offensive defenseman has three assists and a minus-5 rating over 10 games.
