After spending recent wks back home in his native Sweden, Anton Stralman is now in NY. Probably won't play until next wknd, Wed at earliest

Barring any injury, Stralman should play on the bottom pairing and get some power play time. Look for some growing pains as he adapts to coach John Tortorella and his unique playing system.

Winger Peter Mueller is participating in all drills and not wearing an orange no-contact sweater. That’s good news for Mueller, whose concussion or “head” injuries have limited him to 18 games over three seasons in Colorado.

All reports sounded incredibly positive on Mueller, who apparently skated at top speed today. Should Ryan O'Reilly miss any playing time, the former 'Savior' may be an option for the Avs.

#winnipegjets D Randy Jones remains day-to-day with a foot contusion. Have to say he's unlikely to return on this road trip, but we'll see

Jones joins Derek Meech, Tobias Enstrom, Mark Stuart and Ron Hainsey in the press box as the Jets continue to fight off injuries. The Quispamsis, New Brunswick native scored a goal (accidentally) over his seven games.

#winnipegjets head coach Claude Noel said G Chris Mason was progressing and might be ready to go by Tuesday in Buffalo. He's also day-to-day

In the meantime, look for Ondrej Pavelec to continue manning the crease for the Jets. Mason should remain the backup goalie upon his return, spelling Pavelec every 3-5 games.

Renney said #Oilers will re-introduce Hemsky to contact onSunday: "We'll get some pushing and shoving and see how he makes out with that."

Hemsky's return should help the Oilers offense put a few more pucks in the net. However, he likely won't push any of his teammates off the top line as the top line continues to dominate.

Forward Nick Spaling skated this morning. He is on injured reserve and can’t play. It was the first time he skated since the Predators Oct. 29 game against the Anaheim Ducks.

If for whatever reason you own Spaling, keep him on your IR. The versatile forward does have a goal and three points over 10 games making him a fringe option in the deepest of fantasy hockey leagues.

Both Kevin Klein (ankle) and Sergei Kostitsyn (lower body muscle issue) are considered game-time decisions. “It’s not bad, it’s better than yesterday,” Klein said. “It’s one of those things, game-time, we’ll see how it feels and go from there.”

If Klein can't play tonight, look for both Jack Hillen and Teemu Laakso to play tonight. Klein scored a goal and four points through 12 games this season.

What are the latest updates on NHL player suspensions or disciplinary actions?

Already this season we’ve seen the hammer brought down by the NHL Department of Player Safety. Notable suspensions and fines include Ryan Reaves of the Toronto Maple Leafs who was given a five-game suspension for an illegal check to the head against the Edmonton Oilers, and Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot who was dealt a three-game suspension, also for an illegal hit to the head.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.

How are NHL player performances impacting fantasy hockey?

Some notable fantasy hockey performers that flew under the radar in most drafts this year include Martin Necas (123 ADP) of the Carolina Hurricanes and Kiefer Sherwood of the Vancouver Canucks. Some of the most disappointing players of the fantasy hockey season includes Zach Hyman (28 ADP) of the Edmonton Oilers and Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars (33 ADP).

Which NHL players are having breakout or comeback seasons?

Every season there are several players who have breakout years, establishing themselves as some of the best up-and-coming stars in the league. In the 2024-25 season early breakout candidates have emerged such as Dylan Strome of the Washington Capitals (on-pace for his first 100-point season) and Ivan Barbashev of the Vegas Golden Knights (on-pace for career-high in points).

Additionally, nothing beats a comeback story, and that can be said about surging veterans such as Anze Koipitar of the Los Angeles Kings, and Matt Duchene of the Dallas Stars.
