While Penner hasn't contributed in the box score, coach Terry Murray was quick to defend his power forward. Sounds like he should stay on the second even strength and PP unit for the time being.
General manager Lou Lamoriello said Greene is "just resting."
Greene plays a solid, two-way game and is tied for second on the team in blocked shots. He likely just took a maintenance day.
It was the first practice for Brodeur with the entire team since he was hurt on Oct. 13. He shared one net with Keith Kinkaid while Johan Hedberg manned the other goal.
Sharing the net with Kinkaid indicates he won't be the starting goalie tomorrow but it is a welcome sign for the ageing Hall-of-Famer. Stay tuned for more updates on Brodeur as he continues to approach a comeback date.

Injury
EDMONTON, Alberta | Bruce Boudreau was hopeful on Tuesday that defenseman Mike Green would skate with the Capitals Wednesday at Rexall Place. But when the team took the ice for practice, the All-Star defenseman was absent.
Green is doubtful to play tomorrow's game but stay tuned for an official update from the team.

While coach Glen Gulutzan had success moving Adam Burish up to the Mike Ribeiro line in the third period Tuesday in a 2-1 shootout win over Phoenix, it appears Michael Ryder will move back to his normal spot beside Ribeiro Thursday when the Stars play host to the Los Angeles Kings.
Ryder obviously holds the most fantasy hockey value united with current and former teammate Mike Ribeiro. Through his first nine games with the Stars, the two-time, 30-goal scorer has a goal and three points.

Over four career starts against the Canucks, Elliott holds a 1-3-0 record with a 2.80 GAA and .909 SV%.
G Steve Mason (shoulder) practiced yesterday, which was mildly surprising since he missed part of Tuesday's game to get his left shoulder treated. He returned after missing 2:33 of playing time, and he had a bag of ice on his shoulder. "I felt good, the shoulder's fine and I wanted to be out there," Mason said. Simple as that.
Doesn't sound like Mason will lose any playing time to this shoulder injury. It should be noted, however, that Allen York likely gets a start this week.
#CBJ C Jeff Carter did not skate today. Doubtful for Thursday vs. #Sabres.
Carter will definitely need a few days of skating before getting back into the lineup. Stay tuned for further news regarding his injury.

#CBJ D Marc Methot (broken thumb) could join the club this weekend.
Methot should get back on the ice relatively soon but could take some time to get back into game shape as his thumb dictates most of his puckwork. Stay tuned for a follow-up on his status.

The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
