“Butch” sat out the last two Wild games after serving a two-game suspension for a highsticking incident in the Wild’s home opener.

Bouchard returns to the lineup and should play LW on the second line. In his only game played this season, Bouchard posted two assists. Look for the former 8th overall pick to post at least 30 assists this season.

Also, Patric Hornqvist isn’t practicing during today’s morning skate. Yesterday, Nashville’s coach Barry Trotz said Hornqvist was a game-time decision with a “lower-body” injury.

Not practicing today indicates Hornqvist probably won't play tonight. Last season, he scored 21 goals and 48 goals over 79 points. He likely at least scores 20 goals over a full season.

According to the Predators, forward Martin Erat has been placed on injured reserve with an “upper-body” injury.

In his only game played Erat was held without a point, registering a minus-2 rating. Last season, Erat scored 17 goals and 50 points playing primarily on the top two lines. As an often injured forward, fantasy hockey owners need to temper their expectations.

Butler has played in only one of the team's four games as his new coach mentioned his failed defensive play. Last season he scored 10 goals and 21 points through 36 games. Don't expect too much from him until he gets out of the fourth line.

Crosby is cleared for contract which is excellent news for fantasy hockey owners and Pens fans. Keep in mind this news is the next step, and a step in the right direction. However, his return is still indefinite.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Chris Kunitz to a two-year contract extension, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Kunitz's contract is affordable and extends a solid scoring winger for a team heavy on centers (when healthy). Look for his usual 20-25 goals and for the veteran to miss a few games due to various injuries.

The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
