DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Fabian Brunnstrom, who was in training camp on a tryout.

If Brunnstrom could succeed anywhere in the NHL, it would be with Detroit. The 26-year-old holds 19 goals and 40 points through 99 career NHL games, which would indicate he has potential similar to a Red Wings forward like Jiri Hudler. Keep the Swedish import in the very back of your mind as he could make an impact filling in for injured Wings.

Looks like Vincour starts the season on the second line. He scored a goal and an assist over 24 games with the Stars last season. The former Vancouver Giant never scored more than 17 goals at any level so don't expect too much production from the 20-year-old. Nevertheless his two goals and four points over six preseason games could indicate a step in the right direction.

Jeffrey starts the season in IR. Last season he impressed the big club, playing 25 games and finishing with seven goals and 12 points. When healthy expect him to battle for a bottom-6 role.

Defenseman Francis Bouillon and forward Mike Fisher were taking part in drills with the rest of the squad for the first time since training camp opened in mid-September. Both had been skating on their own all camp. Fisher has not practiced with the rest of the Predators since undergoing shoulder surgery at the start of the offseason.

Both players skating with the team indicates they could be nearing a return. Last season, the team's number one center scored 19 goals and 36 points. He should at least match those totals with a full season centering the top line under coach Barry Trotz.

Defenseman Francis Bouillon and forward Mike Fisher were taking part in drills with the rest of the squad for the first time since training camp opened in mid-September. Both had been skating on their own all camp. Bouillon has been out since suffering a concussion Jan. 16 at Chicago.

Both players skating with the team indicates they could be nearing a return. Last season, he scored a goal and 10 points with the Preds before succumbing to the C word. Don't expect too much production from the 5'8" defender.

Defenseman Kurtis Foster (leg) and forward Matt Beleskey (shoulder) are “very, very close” to returning, according to Carlyle. He said both players could be available for the Ducks’ regular season opener here Friday against Buffalo.

Good news for Beleskey, who battled injuries all last season. The 23-year-old proved in the past he can fill the back of the net when he scored 11 goals in 60 games back in 2009-2010. With most of the team's youngsters under-performing in training camp, expect Beleskey to earn a spot on the third line.

Defenseman Kurtis Foster (leg) and forward Matt Beleskey (shoulder) are “very, very close” to returning, according to Carlyle. He said both players could be available for the Ducks’ regular season opener here Friday against Buffalo.

Foster's injury held him out of all of the preseason so expect some rust upon his return. The offensive defenseman posted eight goals in each of his last two seasons. He could find similar success in Anaheim if given any significant PP time.

Defenseman Toni Lydman (shoulder) has increased his activity in practice this week and continues to progress. His timetable for returning, however, remains behind those of Foster and Beleskey.

The Ducks will miss Lydman stabilizing Lubomir Visnovsky. The Finnish defender scored three goals and 25 points last season while sporting a plus-32 rating. He could rack up the plus/minus again if he proves healthy and stays with the Corey Perry- Bobby Ryan - Ryan Getzlaf troika.

#FlaPanthers HC Dineen announces Gudbranson will play in first #NHL game Saturday

Gudbranson should at least stick with the club on a nine-game tryout. Last season he scored 12 goals and 34 points over 44 games with the Kingston Frontenacs. However, considering the team has no reason to rush their youngsters, expect another year of close-to-no fantasy hockey impact.
