Following two seasons with the University of North Dakota, Toews moved onto the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL last year. As a 20-year-old he failed to post at a point-per-game pace, scoring 20 goals and finishing with 48 points through 60 games. At this point, a NHL future remains a longs hot.
Pronger continues to recover ahead of schedule with an outside shot to not miss any playing time. He would be a very interesting value pick at his current ADP.
After a lost season, Brule looks to regain the scoring touch that produced 17 goals in 65 games during the '09-'10 campaign. In deeper leagues he could be a sleeper should he light the lamp in the preseason/early regular season.
Wellwood posted five goals and 13 points through 35 games with the San Jose Sharks, helping them to solidify their third line. He will battle Tim Stapleton and Jim Slater for a checking line role down the middle.
Kesler proved last playoffs he can play through pain but is less effective offensively. Stay tuned for further reports as his injury could be the difference between a 40 and 30-goal output. If it becomes the latter, one would have to question taking Kesler in the second through fourth round.
After an injury-plagued season which limited him to only 50 games and a disappointing 4/20/25 line, Pronger enters the season with a fair 10th round price tag. Could be a very decent value pick in most leagues.
Bodnarchuk played in five NHL games last season due to an injury to Dennis Seidenberg. He most likely starts the season in the AHL with the chance to get called up should the B's blue line have any injuries.
Tough break for Regin, who by all accounts was penciled into the second-line center position. Look for Stephane Da Costa or Erik Condra to get a look in that role should Regin miss a significant amount of playing time.
Bernhardt played 76 games in the ECHL over the past two seasons. The undrafted pivot remains far away from making the AHL, let alone the NHL.
Cheverie established himself as a legitimate NHL prospect following three solid seasons with the University of Denver. Stuck behind Jacob Markstrom and Tyler Plante in the Panthers' system, Cheverie struggled in the ECHL. He remains a long way away from the AHL after playing 45 games in his first professional season.
Barring an injury, Holtby will start the season with the Hershey Bears of the AHL. In limited duty -- 14 games, 12 starts -- Holtby posted an impressive 10-2 record with a 1.79 GAA and .934 SV%.
Prior to last season, Pominville was one of the healthiest skaters in hockey. Following two unpreventable injuries, Pominville should be able to re-establish himself on a stronger Sabres team. Expect another 20-goal season from the dependable winger.
Oreskovich will battle for a fourth line spot this season. He likely holds no fantasy value.
Feel free to draft Parise as the elite left wing he is. In his last full season, Parise netted 38 goals and finished with 82 points. He should be regarded as a third to fourth round pick -- a deep discount from last year's first round price tag.
Considering this contract is two-way, Park will have to battle for a roster spot. In his last NHL season (2009-2010), Park scored nine goals and 31 points in 81 games for the Islanders.
Playing a full, healthy season in his hometown was supposed to vault Fehr back to fantasy hockey relevance. The former 20-goal scorer now can see his value slightly diminish due to his slower recovery. Draft carefully with a contingency plan.
One would imagine Crosby drops out of the first round with this news. He is still not yet cleared for contact but sounded optimistic about returning to 100 percent.
By all accounts it sounds like Lombardi will play this season. With Tim Connolly and Mikhail Grabovski down the middle, Lombardi will be eased back into the lineup.
Ott likely suits up on the second line when the season starts, playing either LW or C. His combination of PIM and points should help most owners in deeper leagues.
