Bonk's hopes of cracking Philadelphia's lineup out of training camp took another hit on Wednesday after the team announced he would be out for two more weeks due to a lower-body injury. The 20-year-old defenseman was Philadelphia's 2023 1st round pick (22nd overall) and is coming off a strong, 11-goal, 40-point campaign with London (OHL) in 2024-25. He is expected to start the season in Lehigh Valley (AHL) when he is healthy enough to return.

Devils' head coach Sheldon Keefe said that Noesen is progressing, but is not expected to see any preseason action. With Noesen injured, rookie Arseny Gritsyuk is likely to make the Devils roster out of training camp. At this point, consider Noesen doubtful to be ready for New Jersey's season opener on October 9th.

Dunn did not practice on Tuesday but is not expected to miss significant time. The 28-year-old Dunn scored 39 points (11G / 28A) in 62 games with Seattle last season. He is one of only 15 defensemen to score over 35 combined goals in the previous three seasons.

Walman will likely miss Edmonton's final two preseason games but should be ready for their season opener. The 29-year-old Walman is gearing up for his first full season as an Oiler. He had eight points (1G / 7A) in 15 games with the Oilers after being acquired from the San Jose Sharks before the trade deadline last season.

Hellebuyck left Winnipeg's skate on Monday after he "wasn't feeling quite right," but will suit up in Tuesday's preseason game in Minnesota. The 32-year-old reigning Vezina Trophy winner is coming off an impressive 47-12-3 season, with a 2.00 GAA and .925 SV%.

Vlasic will likely miss Chicago's remaining three preseason games but could be ready for the team's season-opener. The 24-year-old Vlasic scored 30 points (4G / 26A) in 82 games last season.

Miller had a scary fall on Monday at New York's practice and had to leave the ice immediately. The 32-year-old was without an update after practice but has since been listed as day-to-day and appears to have avoided any serious concerns. Miller is entering his 14th NHL season and eighth in New York after being reacquired by the Rangers at the mid-point of last season. The newly appointed Rangers captain scored 21 goals and 70 points in 72 games last season.

Carrick skated on his own before practice but did not skate with the team. The 33-year-old Carrick played 80 games and scored 20 points (6G / 14A) last year in his first season with the Rangers.

Power was not at practice on Tuesday, but is unlikely to miss significant time. The 22-year-old Power is coming off a career-best season in 2024-25, scoring 40 points (7G / 33A) in 79 games. With Rasmus Dahlin locked into Buffalo's top powerplay unit, Power will likely spend most of the season quarterbacking the second unit.

Zuccarello will likely not be an option for Minnesota until late November, as he is recovering from a lower-body injury. The 38-year-old Zuccarello has remained productive for Minnesota, playing primarily alongside Kirill Kaprizov, including scoring 54 points (19G / 35A) in 69 games last season. Zuccarello's absence creates an opening in Minnesota's top six, potentially giving a player like Liam Ohgren a chance to showcase his talents.

Hoglander's sixth season in Vancouver will get off to a rocky start after the Canucks announced Monday that the forward successfully underwent lower-body surgery and is expected to be out for 8-10 weeks. The 24-year-old was expecting to play his usual bottom-six role this season after an eight-goal, 25-point campaign across 72 games played in 2024-25.

Anaheim will be without its starting netminder for a few days after it announced Lukas Dostal was day-to-day with a lower-body injury on Monday. The 25-year-old is expected to take a step forward this season after the Ducks moved John Gibson to Detroit in the offseason. Last year was his best season since joining the NHL in 2021-22, going 23-23-7 with a 3.10 GAA and .903 SV%.

Hellebuyck left Winnipeg's skate on Monday after he "wasn't feeling quite right" and will now have his status up in the air for Tuesday's preseason game in Minnesota. The 32-year-old reigning Vezina Trophy winner is coming off an impressive 47-12-3 season, with a 2.00 GAA and .925 SV%. If he is forced to miss any time, Eric Comrie will be expected to fill in.

Byram missed Monday's practice with an undisclosed injury and is considered day-to-day. The 24-year-old will hope to be ready for opening night after completing all 82 games played in 2024-25 for the first time in his five-year career. The former 4th overall pick (2019) is expected to play a huge part in Buffalo's defence again in 2025-26, after putting up seven goals and a career-high 38 points last season.

Buffalo will be without one of their top shutdown defenders a little longer than expected after it was announced that Mattias Samuelsson would be out week-to-week with an upper-body injury after reaggravating his original injury. The 24-year-old is entering his sixth season with Buffalo after putting up career highs in goals (4), points (14) and games played (62) in 2024-25. He is not expected to be ready for opening night after the recent update.

Winnipeg will be without a key piece on its blue line for the next 6-8 weeks after it was announced Dylan Samberg had suffered a broken wrist. The 26-year-old is entering his fifth NHL season in Winnipeg after posting career highs in nearly all statistical categories in 2024-25, including goals (6), points (20), SOG (95) and average TOI (21:08).

Milano missed 79 games in 2024-25 with an upper-body injury and has already missed Washington's practice on Tuesday as he deals with a new upper-body-related injury. Washington has confirmed that the new ailment is unrelated to last year's injury. The 29-year-old's last full season was with Washington in 2023-24, where he had 15 goals and 23 points in 49 games played. He is currently leading all players in goals (4) in the preseason.

Miller had a scary fall on Monday at New York's practice and had to leave the ice immediately. The 32-year-old was without an update after practice but is being further evaluated. Miller is entering his 14th NHL season and eighth in New York after being reacquired by the Rangers at the mid-point of last season. If he is forced to miss some time, it will be a massive loss for the Rangers, who expected the veteran forward to occupy their top line and power play after 21 goals and 70 points in 72 games played last season.

While the minimum amount of time spent on the injured reserve list is seven calendar days, there is no maximum amount of time that a player can be placed on the injured reserve list. If a player is set to be sidelined for longer than 24 calendar days or 10 NHL games, then a club may opt to place them on the long-term injured reserve instead. This allows franchises with the ability to exceed the salary cap while a player is placed on this reserve list.
No injury recovery timeline is the same as another as there are several factors that go into the rehab process for a player being affected by injury. Factors include but are not limited to, injury severity, player injury/medical history, age, as well as the location of the injury. Some injuries are able to clear up in a matter of days, while others may take an athlete out of action for the entirety of a season.
