Ristolainen missed the Flyers' first 20 games of the 2023-24 season but has been activated off the injured reserve and will make his season debut vs. the Islanders Saturday. The 29-year-old will replace Egor Zamula and is entering his 11th NHL season after posting three goals and 20 points in 74 games played in 2022-23.

Girgensons left the Sabres' game Friday vs. Pittsburgh after just 6:35 due to a lower-body injury and was placed on the injured reserve Saturday with expectations he is out week-to-week. The 29-year-old left-winger had two goals, 27 SOG, seven PIMs and a -3 plus/minus in 20 games played prior to his injury.

Labanc missed the Sharks' last two games due to an upper-body injury but will draw back into the lineup Saturday vs. Vancouver in place of Filip Zadina (upper body). The 27-year-old right-winger has struggled out of the gate this season, with no goals, two assists, 18 SOG, six PIMs and a -8 plus/minus through 13 games prior to his injury.

Zadina left the Sharks' previous game vs. Montreal after just five shifts and 4:14 TOI due to an upper-body injury and will be out Saturday vs. Vancouver. The 23-year-old right-winger opted to head to San Jose in the offseason and has three goals, two assists, 30 SOG, six PIMs and a -19 plus/minus through 20 games so far in 2023-24. Kevin Labanc (upper body) will draw back into the Sharks' lineup and take Zadina's place.

Tanev played just 3:37 TOI before leaving Friday's loss to the Canucks. Tye Kartye moved up to the second line with Tanev out and they'll recall a forward from the AHL in the upcoming day with Tanev out for the foreseeable future.

The Wild already announced that Filip Gustavsson will start Sunday in Detroit, so the Wild may need to call-up a backup if Fleury is not available. The 38-year-old has endured a horrific start to his 2023-24 season, with his 3-4-2 record, 3.46 GAA and .875 SV%.

The Blackhawks have yet to say why Perry isn't with the team but that it was a team decision, not Perry's decision. The 38-year-old signed a one-year, $4 million contract in the offseason and had been enjoying a decent start to the season with four goals, five assists, 26 SOG, 12 PIMs and a -5 plus/minus in 16 games played.

Martin has missed the Islanders' previous four games due to an upper-body injury and was placed on the injured reserve Saturday. The 34-year-old bruising winger had been enjoying a slow start to his 2023-24 season, with a goal, as assist, 11 SOG, and seven PIMs in 14 games played prior to the injury.

Walman had just returned for a full game after leaving early from the Global Series in Sweden but will now be forced to miss Sunday due to illness. The 27-year-old defencement has enjoyed an incredibly strong start to his 2023-24 season on Detroit's top pair, with four goals, four assists, 34 SOG, 18 PIMs and a +7 plus/minus through 18 games played.

Girgensons played just 6:35 TOI before leaving Friday's game vs. the Penguins. The Sabres already had to play with 11 forwards and seven defensemen last night, so expect them to make some call-ups if Girgensons and Jordan Greenway are unavailable.

Pelech suffered an upper-body injury on Friday and was placed on LTIR on Saturday. The move means that Pelech will miss 10 games/24 days and opens up $5.75M in cap-space for them to make some call-ups to replace Pelech and maybe Sebastian Aho, who was also injured on Friday.

Grzelcyk missed the minimum of 10 games on LTIR and is expected to play Saturday in New York. Grzelcyk will replace Mason Lohrei, who was sent back to Providence (AHL) in a corresponding transaction. Grzelcyk had one goal on 12 SOG in nine games before getting hurt.

The Islanders lost both Aho and Adam Pelech on Friday, and both are questionable to play Saturday. Depending on their availability, the Islanders may be forced to make some roster moves in order to have six defensemen.

Zadina left Friday's game with a nagging upper-body injury that has been "bothering him." Mike Hoffman was promoted into the top-6 with Zadina out, and expect Kevin Labanc to draw back into the lineup after being a game-time decision yesterday.

Lazar left Friday's game vs. the Blue Jackets with an undisclosed injury and did not return. Head coach Lindy Ruff called Lazar questionable for Saturday's contest vs. Buffalo. Expect Max Willman to draw back into the lineup to replace Lazar if neither Nico Hischier or Timo Meier are ready to return.

Dillon was a game-time decision for Friday's game in Florida due to the lower-body injury. The 33-year-old blue-liner has four goals, three assists, and 50 hits in 18 games for the Jets this season.

The NHL injury report is updated daily so that you can see the latest injury news ahead of puck drop in any of today’s matchups. Seeing timely updates to the NHL injury report can make a major impact on your daily fantasy sports picks and wagers on a particular game. All information provided on the NHL injury report is provided directly by the NHL and each respective franchise to ensure accuracy.
While the minimum amount of time spent on the injured reserve list is seven calendar days, there is no maximum amount of time that a player can be placed on the injured reserve list. If a player is set to be sidelined for longer than 24 calendar days or 10 NHL games, then a club may opt to place them on the long-term injured reserve instead. This allows franchises with the ability to exceed the salary cap while a player is placed on this reserve list.
No injury recovery timeline is the same as another as there are several factors that go into the rehab process for a player being affected by injury. Factors include but are not limited to, injury severity, player injury/medical history, age, as well as the location of the injury. Some injuries are able to clear up in a matter of days, while others may take an athlete out of action for the entirety of a season.
