He is expected to skate on a line with A.J. Greer and Walker Duehr.

The Red Wings received positive news on Tuesday as Robby Fabbri was activated from the injured reserve and will make his return to the Red Wings lineup on Tuesday against the New York Rangers. Fabbri, who has dealt with injuries his entire career, was injured in the Red Wings' first game of the season but still managed to score one point (1G / 0A) in 14:44 time-on-ice. He will likely skate on the third line alongside Joe Veleno and Daniel Sprong.

Larkin has played all 12 games for the Red Wings this season but his status for Tuesday will not be determined until closer to puck drop. Larkin did not attend practice on Monday but participated in the team's morning skate on Tuesday. He is averaging 19:50 time-on-ice, has 17 points (5G / 12A), and 41 shots on goal.

Harvey-Pinard appears to be inching closer to a return but will remain out of the Canadiens' lineup on Tuesday. Harvey-Pinard hasn't played since leaving Thursday's contest against the Arizona Coyotes with a lower-body injury after just six shifts and 5:06 TOI. The 24-year-old has yet to score this season but has four assists, nine SOG, and two PIMs in 10 games played before his injury.

Shesterkin appears to be nearing a return but will sit out for a second consecutive game as he tends to an undisclosed injury. The 27-year-old Vezina Trophy winner has had a good start to the season prior to his injury, with his 6-2-0 record, .913 SV% and 2.36 GAA. Jonathan Quick has manned the starter's crease in Shesterkin's absence.

The 28-year-old is in his eighth NHL season and has only appeared in one game in 2023-24 where he was forced to leave after just 7:55 TOI. He will take his spot back on the third line with Alex Barre-Boulet and Anthony Cirelli on Monday.

Andersen did not participate in practice on Monday due to what was originally described as an undisclosed medical issue. Don Waddell, Hurricanes President and GM, has since put out a statement noting that Andersen had a blood clotting issue that needed to be addressed. There is no timeline for his return. Anderson has a 2.87 GAA and .894 SV% in six games this season (4-1-0). Assuming he misses extended time, Antti Raanta will be the likely candidate to take on most of the Hurricanes' goaltending duties. The Hurricanes also announced on Monday that veteran goalie Jaroslav Halak will be joining the team on a free-agent tryout.

Shesterkin did not dress for the Rangers' previous game vs. Minnesota and is considered day-to-day with an undisclosed injury after lightly practicing Monday. The injury designation comes with a sigh of relief as the 2022 Vezina Trophy winner is off to a fantastic start in 2023-24, with his 6-2-0 record, .913 SV% and 2.36 GAA.

Motte has missed the Lightning's previous 10 games due to an upper-body injury and will be a game-time decision Monday vs. Toronto. Last week, Backstrom announced he would "step away from the game" indefinitely as he takes time to focus on his health. In 2022, Backstrom had hip resurfacing surgery that forced him to miss the majority of the 2022-23 season. The 35-year-old Sweedish center iceman has played 1105 career games, all with the Washington Capitals, registering 1033 points (271G / 762A), but has only scored 22 points (7G / 15A) in 47 games since his surgery, a 0.47 point-per-game pace, down significantly from the 0.96 pace he had prior.

NHL Injury Report FAQs
The NHL injury report is updated daily so that you can see the latest injury news ahead of puck drop in any of today’s matchups. Seeing timely updates to the NHL injury report can make a major impact on your daily fantasy sports picks and wagers on a particular game. All information provided on the NHL injury report is provided directly by the NHL and each respective franchise to ensure accuracy.
While the minimum amount of time spent on the injured reserve list is seven calendar days, there is no maximum amount of time that a player can be placed on the injured reserve list. If a player is set to be sidelined for longer than 24 calendar days or 10 NHL games, then a club may opt to place them on the long-term injured reserve instead. This allows franchises with the ability to exceed the salary cap while a player is placed on this reserve list.
No injury recovery timeline is the same as another as there are several factors that go into the rehab process for a player being affected by injury. Factors include but are not limited to, injury severity, player injury/medical history, age, as well as the location of the injury. Some injuries are able to clear up in a matter of days, while others may take an athlete out of action for the entirety of a season.
