Andersen made 17 saves on 20 shots before being replaced by Curtis McElhinney in the Maple Leafs shootout win over the Stars last night. Andersen will not be available for Thursday’s game in Buffalo as McElhinney has already been named the starter and Garrett Sparks has been recalled from Toronto (AHL). There is no word on the severity of Andersen’s injury at this point.

The Canucks announced that Gudbranson has been removed from the active roster and will undergoing surgery for a shoulder injury that he originally sustained on November 22nd. Gudbranson should be ready to go for 2018-19 training camp this fall.

Zajac was forced to miss Saturday’s game in Nashville, but will replace Jesper Bratt tonight in Vegas. Zajac, who will have Michael Grabner and Brian Gibbons on his wings, returns with 20 points (10G / 10A) in 51 games this season.

Karlsson has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury, but will be back in tonight in Edmonton. Karlsson has had a quiet season, picking up just 17 points (8G / 9A) in 60 games. He will return on the fourth line with Eric Fehr and Marcus Sorensen.

Neal will miss his eighth straight game with a hand injury and remains listed as “day-to-day.” Neal did not take the ice for the morning skate on Wednesday, so it seems unlikely that he will play Friday vs. the Wild either.

Smith remains day-to-day with an undisclosed injury and will miss his fourth straight game tonight vs. the Devils. Smith was not on the ice for the morning skate, which clouds his status for Friday’s game vs. the Wild as well.

Benning is battling a sickness so he will come out of the lineup vs. the Sharks. Oscar Klefbom (shoulder), who has missed the last two games, will replace him.

Klefbom missed the last two games after undergoing a “minor procedure” on his shoulder but he will play tonight vs.the Sharks. However, Klefbom is expected to undergo another procedure soon to “clean up” his shoulder and he will be shutout for the rest of the season at that point.

Despite practicing on Tuesday and Wednesday, Eichel is not ready to return to the Sabres lineup on Thursday. Regardless, he is obviously getting close to a return to the lineup, so monitor his status heading into Saturday’s game vs. the Blackhawks.

Rust has missed the last two games with a concussion that he sustained in Philadelphia last Wednesday. Rust is expected to replace Josh Jooris on the Penguins fourth line and comes into tonight with 33 points (10G / 23A) in 57 games this season.

Jones was forced to leave Monday’s game for vs. Montreal but head coach John Tortorella said that it was precautionary. Jones was still able to pick up a goal and an assist before leaving the game, giving him four goals and three assists (seven points) in his last three games. Make sure he’s active in all formats on Thursday.

Hutchinson, who got the start in Nashville, left in the first period after suffering an upper-body injury. On Wednesday, the Jets recalled Eric Comrie from Manitoba (AHL) which suggests that Hutchinson will miss at least one game.

It looks like the Panthers have caught a break and Trocheck should be in the lineup tomorrow. This isn’t overly surprising considering he was able to play through a suspected ailment on Monday. Trocheck will head into Thursday’s game on a four-game point streak, picking up two goals and five assists (seven points) during that stretch.

DeBrusk absorbed a big hit early on Tuesday but was able to play through it for a period of time, but eventually went down the tunnel and never returned. DeBrusk ended up logging just 10:48 TOI and should be considered questionable as the Bruins head to Florida for a clash with the Panthers on Thursday.

Chara took a tumble into the corner boards in the first period of Tuesday’s game and never returned. The Bruins were already without Charlie McAvoy and Torey Krug also left the game, so they were without their top-3 defenseman and were still able to make a furious third period comeback. Expect an update on Chara’s status leading up to Thursday’s game in Florida.

It is unclear what happened to Krug that forced him from Tuesday’s win in Carolina. Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy did not have any sort of update on Krug postgame, so he will likely be reevaluated on Wednesday and an update will follow. Krug was reportedly seen walking around without any obvious signs that he is dealing with a lower-body injury.

Trocheck seemed to be in some discomfort at the tail-end of the Panthers’ loss to the Senators on Monday. However, he was able to finish the game, collecting two assists in 20:15 TOI. The Panthers’ second-line centre continues his great season, having posted 26 goals and 38 assist (64 points) in 67 games. His absence from Wednesday’s practice clouds his status for Thursday’s game, but check in on him during tomorrow’s morning skate to see exactly what’s up.

Zaitsev has been battling an illness and will miss his second straight game on Wednesday. However, Zaitsev was able to get on the ice for the first time in five days, which suggests that he could be ready for tomorrow’s game in Buffalo.

The NHL injury report is updated daily so that you can see the latest injury news ahead of puck drop in any of today’s matchups. Seeing timely updates to the NHL injury report can make a major impact on your daily fantasy sports picks and wagers on a particular game. All information provided on the NHL injury report is provided directly by the NHL and each respective franchise to ensure accuracy.
While the minimum amount of time spent on the injured reserve list is seven calendar days, there is no maximum amount of time that a player can be placed on the injured reserve list. If a player is set to be sidelined for longer than 24 calendar days or 10 NHL games, then a club may opt to place them on the long-term injured reserve instead. This allows franchises with the ability to exceed the salary cap while a player is placed on this reserve list.
No injury recovery timeline is the same as another as there are several factors that go into the rehab process for a player being affected by injury. Factors include but are not limited to, injury severity, player injury/medical history, age, as well as the location of the injury. Some injuries are able to clear up in a matter of days, while others may take an athlete out of action for the entirety of a season.
