NHL Scratches & Line Changes

Malgin has picked up eight points (4G / 4A) in 28 games this season. He has played fairly well, but will get the night off tonight vs. the Canucks. Seth Griffith will play with Aleksander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr with Malgin out.

Del Zotto has two goals and two assists in his last six games, but will come out of the lineup tonight vs. the Oilers. Radko Gudas will get back in after missing three games with an illness.

Simpson, 23, was a fourth round pick (No.92 overall) in 2011 and will fill-in for an injured Mark Fayne on Thursday. Simpson has picked up one goal in 12 games with Bakersfield prior to his call-up.

Beauvillier has been a healthy scratch for the last three games, but he is expected to play on Thursday. Ryan Strome is not feeling well, so Beauviller will likely replace him in the lineup tonight. The young forward has two goals and five assists (seven points) in 18 games this season.

DeMelo will replace David Schlemko (lower-body) in the lineup vs. the Senators. DeMelo has registered one goal in the two games he’s played in with the Sharks this season.

Duclair has had a very difficult first quarter of the season, having picked up just one goal and three assists in 23 games. Duclair will sit tonight and allow Brendan Perlini to make his NHL debut. Duclair is also apparently on the Coyotes’ trade block as well.

Jonathan Marchessault is out with a lower-body injury, so Malgin will skate with Aleksander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr in Boston. The first year forward has four goals and four assists (eight points) in 25 games this season.

With Marc Methot and Fredrik Claesson both sidelined with injuries, Englund was recalled and will play on Saturday vs. Florida. Englund has picked up five points (1G / 4A) in 18 games with Binghamton (AHL) this season.

Clendening has been a healthy scratch for 11 straight games, but tonight he will replace Kevin Klein in the lineup on Thursday. Clendening will play with Brady Skjei at even strength and on the second power-play unit.

Klein has just six assists in 21 games this season and has struggled over the last few games, so he will be replaced by Adam Clendening in the lineup tonight.

Claesson hasn’t played with the Senators since November 13th, but will play tonight with Marc Methot injured. Claesson has no points while averaging 11:45 TOI in six games this season, but he will skate with Erik Karlsson tonight, which means he could play bigger minutes.

Quine has played in four straight games, recording one assist to give him three points (1G / 2A) in 13 games with the Islanders. He will come out of the lineup on Wednesday. He will be replaced by Ryan Strome, who has sat out the last two games.

Mayfield has appeared in one game with the Islanders this season, having spent the majority of the year in Bridgeport (AHL), where he has two points (1G / 1A) in 12 games. The 24-year-old will replace an injured Adam Pelech.

Strome was a healthy scratch in the last two games, but will be in the lineup for Alan Quine on Wednesday. Strome has collected six points (2G / 4A) in 19 games this season. He will play centre, likely on the third line with Jason Chimera and Anders Lee.

Olofsson, 21, was recalled and will make his debut tonight vs. the Canucks. The former second round pick (No.46 in 2013) has picked up 12 points (3G / 9A) in 21 games with Iowa (AHL) this season and will play on the left side of Jonas Brodin.

Hamhuis has picked up just five assists in 21 games in his first season with the Stars. He has been held pointless in his last six games and played a season-low 16:03 TOI on Friday. He will serve as a healthy scratch for the second time this season, which means Patrik Nemeth will draw back into the lineup.

Jankowski was the 21st overall pick in 2012 and will play in his first career NHL game tonight in Brooklyn. Jankowski picked up 12 points (3G / 9A) in 13 games with Stockton (AHL) this season. The Canadian-born centre will draw in, but the Flames did not announce who will come out. The obvious choice would be Freddie Hamilton, but there are some rumblings that it could be Sean Monahan, who has struggled as of late.

Strome will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game. Strome is coming off of a rough 2015-16 season and has picked up just six points (2G / 4A) in 19 games this season.
