Jack Eichel scores twice against Golden Knights

Captain Jack.

The newly named Buffalo Sabres’ captain scored twice Sunday afternoon in a 4-2 victory against the Golden Knights.

Eichel got the Sabres on the board with a bullet of a one-timer in the opening period:

He netted his second goal of the afternoon in the middle frame after a beautiful pass from Sam Reinhart. The skilled centreman showed off his filthy hands to undress netminder Marc-Andre Fleury and make it 2-0:

The 21-year-old recorded 25 goals and 64 points in 67 games last season as the Sabres plummeted to the bottom of the standings. The team later drafted prized Swedish defenseman Rasmus Dahlin first overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and now have a great nucleus of talented young players.

Eichel hasn’t played a full 80-plus game season since his rookie campaign three years ago, so if he can stay healthy this season, he should be in for a very productive year.
