Joffrey Lupul set to miss start of camp

Last season, Joffrey Lupul lost 59 games due to multiple back surgeries following a herniated disk; he literally did not step foot on the ice since mid-December. Unfortunately for him it will take a little bit longer than that to rekindle his scoring touch in Anaheim.

According to Curtis Zupke of the OC Register, Lupul will miss the beginning of training camp.  Looks like Zupke has asked all the questions and got most of our main concerns out of the way:

” The Ducks, who have acknowledged interest in Paul Kariya, are not preparing for Lupul to be out for longer than that but they are aware that he probably will not play a full season. A possible fill-in at wing could be veteran Jason Blake.”

Although rookie winger Dan Sexton looked good in Lupul’s absense, the veteran Blake probably will get the first call.  Hard to say we failed to see this coming, Lupul kind of tipped it off, via Twitter.
