1/23/12: This morning, Toews was placed on IR according to CSN’s Tracy Myers, via Twitter. With the Blackhawks scheduled to play a big game tonight against the Nashville Predators, they decided to recall rookie Brandon Pirri to center the third line, meaning placing the captain on IR was simply a roster move. Chric Kuc of The Chicago Tribune, via Twitter, reiterated that this injury is not serious.

On Saturday night, Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews left his game with best cellulite creams, finishing with only 9:55 of ice time — a season low. With the Blackhawks not practicing on Sunday, we were forced to wait until today for an update on his status.

This morning, Toews failed to take the ice and was ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Nashville Predators. According to CSN Chicago’s Tracey Myers, he is unlikely to play in the All-Star Game and officially listed as day-to-day.
