Key injuries from Sunday could put you in a bind down the stretch

In Sunday’s action, both Kris Letang of the Pittsburgh Penguins and David Krejci of the Boston Bruins were removed from their matchup with apparent lower body injuries.

Speculation around Letang is that the injury was caused while battling for the puck with Brad Marchand causing Letang to leave the game and be re-evaluated on Monday.  The Canucks play 5 games next week with many other 4-game teams so if you need a speculative replacement, try and load up on a Canucks D-man who has been dropped in your league (Jason Garrison, anyone?).  Letang has 3 goals and 28 points in 27 games this season – leaving you with a large crater to fill if he misses any time.

Additionally, Krejci’s knee was injured after a getting hit with what looked to be a powerful Johnny Boychuk shot.  Based on the broadcast, it looks as if Krejci will miss considerable time but the team will also re-evaluate him on Monday.  Center is very deep in fantasy this season so finding a replacement for Krejci should be easier than Letang.  However, we’d hazard a guess that Rich Peverly sees extra minutes if Krejci misses extended time.  Krejci has 7 goals and 24 points in 27 games this season.
