Kyle Okposo out 2-3 months with torn labrum

According to Katie Strang of Newsday, Kyle Okposo will not return to the New York Islanders lineup until at least December. The injury, coming during a closed door practice to fans and bloggers, is currently diagnosed as a torn labrum in his right shoulder and will require surgery.

Before setting a date for the surgery, Okposo will seek a second opinion from a shoulder specialist, but the original prognosis seems pretty bleak.

Looks like the Islanders will endure more problems this season than just their expected growing pains as this injury is the second to a core player in less than a week.  On Sunday it was announced that defenseman Marc Streit will miss six months of the season following a shoulder injury during practice.
