Lecavalier listed as day-to-day with hand injury

UPDATE 10/21/10 @ 11:46 AM: According to Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune, Lecavalier will be a game-time decision tonight.

UPDATE 10/18/10 @ 11:38 AM:  According to the teams official twitter, Lecavalier is listed as very doubtful for game tonight per head coach Guy Boucher.

During Saturday’s crushing loss to the rival Florida Panthers, the Tampa Bay Lightning might have lost Vincent Lecavalier too.  The hulking center took a shot off his right knuckle and left the game briefly before returning to the bench.  He would continue to play sparingly but did not take any faceoffs.

The injury seems to be somewhat minor, but the team will take precautionary measures with their leader.  He is questionable for tonight’s game, here is the latest from Damien Cristodero of Lightning Strikes:

Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vinny Lecavalier, who during Saturday’s 6-0 loss to the Panthers took a slap shot off the first knuckle of his right hand , continued to have soreness, the team said, but no further testing was done. Lecavalier said an X-ray on Saturday was negative. His status for Monday’s game with the Stars will be determined perhaps at the morning skate.

We will give you an update on Lecavalier’s status after morning skate.
