Mixing It Up With Some Prop Bets

Mixing It Up With Some Prop Bets

Might as well flip a coin, right?  Well, I didn’t like any of the games I saw on the slate tonight so I took a rare look at the prop list on Bodog (opens in a new window) and, lo and behold, there’s some gems.  I’ve stuck with the team over / unders but feel free to bounce around some others.

Toews3

Chicago Blackhawks Over 3 Goals -125

First off, Chicago is playing at home, where they’ve amassed the 4th best offense in the NHL, average 3.5 goals per game.  Chicago has scored 4 or more goals in 6-straight games.  Secondly, Minnesota is playing backup Josh Harding who has let in 3-4-3 goals in his last 3 games.  He’s allowed 3 or more goals in 5 of his 7 starts on the year.  To top it off, the Wild allow an average of 2.9 goals per game on the road.  I love this pick and at the very least, you should push.

Calgary Flames Over 2.5 Goals -120

Gotta love this one.  The Flames boast the 10th-best road offense, averaging 2.9 goals per game, but the risk is that their wins have come from strong defensive play, not offensive.  However, Dan Ellis is starting for the Preds.  Ellis sprinkles in a good game every once in a while but for the month of December, he allowed 3 or more goals per game in 5 of his 7 starts.  Risky play but Calgary has scored 5 and 3 goals in their first two meetings on the season.

Vancouver Canucks Over 3 Goals -130

No idea which Steve Mason will show up tonight but Vancouver has a stellar offense at home – 3.4 goals per game, 6th-best.  Better yet, Columbus offers the second-worst road defense at 3.8 goals against per game and losing Mike Commodore doesn’t help.  Vancouver’s offense is mostly healthy and has already potted 3 goals on Mason in their first meeting on the year.  They’ve also managed 3 or more goals in 5 of their last 6 games.

Have fun!
