Most Likely to Succeed: New Jersey Devils

Most likely to Succeed is our newest series which points out one player from every team and explains why that player is poised to increase their point totals. While some teams may have more than one player likely to breakout and some none, we will focus on the ones who actually should improve with a full healthy season. File this article under a sleeper-type but sleepers would not be called that if people saw them coming.

After one of the longest and most boring summer free agency market, the New Jersey Devils landed their big fish. Rather than focus on which one of Ilya Kovalchuk or Zach Parise will score more goals, we would like to discuss the man who will dish tape-to-tape passes to either sniper: Travis Zajac.

Over the past two seasons Zajac has improved both his play in his own end and his point totals. In fact, he now is considered one of the better defensive forwards in the league while consistently posing a threat on the forecheck. At only 25-years-old he could be just entering his prime on a potentially powerhouse team.

The best part about Zajac is his ADP to O-Rank discrepency. With center becoming a deeper and deeper position every year the number one center for New Jersey falls down way to the 8th, 9th or 10th rounds. His O-Rank puts him at a tidy 68; more indicative of his value.
