Canucks sign Arshdeep Bains, Aatu Ratu and Guillaume Brisebois to extensions

The Vancouver Canucks have been busy on Monday.
After signing Max Sasson to a one-year deal, the team has signed forwards Arshdeep Bains, Aatu Ratu and Guillaume Brisebois to contract extensions.
Bains and Raty both signed two-year deals worth $775,000. Brisebois, meanwhile, is only on a one-year deal, while boasting the same league minimum cap hit.
All three players were part of the Abbotsford Canucks lineup that won the 2025 Calder Cup a few weeks back.
Bains, 24, had played 21 career NHL games, registering one goal. He had 43 ponts in the regular season this year and 55 the year before, with an overall career total of 136 points in 175 games over three years. Bains had a strong playoff run, registering 24 points in as many games.
Raty, 22, had 11 points in 33 games with the Canucks this year, and another 40 points in 43 AHL games. Originally drafted by the New York Islanders in 2021, Raty set a personal-best of 52 points in 72 AHL games a year ago.
Brisebois, 27, has spent his entire NHL career in the Canucks’ organization after getting drafted 66th overall in 2015. The 6-foot-3 defender played in three NHL games this year, but played in 17 just two years ago. Brisebois missed almost all of 2023-24 due to injury, but has managed to remain a stable shutdown presence in Abbotsford throughout his career.
According to PuckPedia, the Canucks have $7.031 million in projected cap space this year. Brock Boeser and Pius Suter are both set to become UFAs up front, with Noah Juulsen being the lone NHL roster defenseman to need a new deal.
Other UFAs in the system include minor league forwards Phillip Di Giuseppe and Nathan Smith and defenders Christian Wolanin and Akito Hirose. On the RFA front, Jett Woo, Cole McWard, Christian Felton, Ty Glover and Tristen Nielsen all require new deals, with the NHL’s qualifying offer deadline set for 5:00 PM ET on Monday.
With 90 points, the Canucks finished two spots out of a wild-card playoff spot in the Western Conference this -past year.
