Spencer Martin was claimed off of Thursday’s waiver wire by the Columbus Blue Jackets. The remaining six players from Thursday all cleared waivers.
Gaudette, 26, joined the Blues last season as one of the players in the return for the trade that sent Ryan O’Reilly and Noel Acciari to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Gaudette spent the entirety of the season in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies and Springfield Thunderbirds, where he had 27 goals, 24 assists, and 51 points in 65 games. He also had a goal in two playoff games with the Thunderbirds as they were eliminated in the first round by the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Mackey, 27, was an unrestricted free agent signing by the Rangers in the 2023 offseason. He got into 30 games of NHL action in 2022-23 with the Calgary Flames and Arizona Coyotes, where he had three goals, four assists, and seven points. He was an unrestricted free agent signing by the Flames in 2020, and spent most of his NHL career this far with Calgary until he was dealt to the Coyotes along with Brett Ritchie for Troy Stecher and Nick Ritchie.
Riley Nash, 34, is another Ranger of note on the waiver wire, as he is a veteran of 627 NHL games in his 12-season professional career, and was known for being a strong shutdown center. He spent the entirety of the 2022-23 season in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, where he had 24 goals, 35 assists, and 59 points in 66 games, along with three goals, two assists, and five points in seven playoff games as the Checkers were eliminated in the Atlantic Division semifinals by the Hershey Bears. It’s the first time since the 2010-11 season that Nash didn’t play an NHL game in a season.
