The Anaheim Ducks and Troy Terry have announced the numbers that they seek for Terry’s next contract. Terry is coming off of a three-year deal with an AAV of $1.45 million. The Ducks value Terry at $4.5 million and he values himself at $8 million.

That represents a gap of $3.5 million in what the player and team value him at. Terry scored 23 goals and 61 points this past season in 70 games and was tied for the most goals on the team with Trevor Zegras. Over the last two seasons, Terry has been the highest-scoring Duck by a wide margin and one of only a few players who can consistently create offence throughout the season.

Whatever happens with his arbitration hearing, he will be getting a large raise on his next contract. If he is awarded a one-year deal that will walk him straight to free agency next year and given the fact that he had to go to arbitration this year, it’s not unlikely that he’ll leave Anaheim after this season.

Terry was originally selected in the fifth-round of the 2015 NHL Draft by the Ducks. He wasn’t initially seen as a top prospect but slowly climbed the ranks of the Ducks’ organisation. He spent three seasons from 2019-2021 as a depth piece, scoring a combined 15 goals and 48 points in 127 games. He also had two stints in the AHL with the San Diego Gulls, putting up an impressive 57 points in 55 games.

Terry will return to Anaheim for at least one more year but if he leaves next year in free agency it will be a big blow to the Ducks’ offence. The Ducks are a team that’s on the rise and they hope to contend for the playoffs over the next few seasons.
