Anaheim Ducks defenseman John Klingberg was listed as a late scratch for Tuesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a lower -body injury.

Klingberg, 30, has totalled 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) in 48 games this season with the Ducks. Klingberg signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the Ducks last summer after an eight-year run with the Dallas Stars. Last season with the Stars, he registered 47 points (six goals, 41 assists) in 74 games played. His advanced metrics were solid he was fourth in the league for successful zone exit carries, 15th in defensive zone carries, 22nd in total passes, and 21st in stretch passes. 

While his name has been heavy in the trade rumours leading up to the trade deadline frenzy; Klingberg is ranked 11th on Frank Seravalli’s latest trade targets list here at Daily Faceoff. Seravalli listed the Seattle Kraken, New York Islanders, and Calgary Flames as potential suitors for Klingberg in his Trade Deadline player profile. 

The Stars originally selected Klingberg in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Draft. The Goteborg, Sweden, product has registered 396 points (78 goals, 318 assists) throughout nine seasons and 600 career regular season games. In 2017-18, Klingberg won the World Championship gold medal with Sweden, while also picking up the nod for the World Championship Best Defenseman. That same year, he also got the nod to his first NHL All-Star Game and finished the season with a league-leading 59 assists. 

Additionally, Ducks defenseman Nathan Beaulieu will slot into the lineup. Beaulieu has four assists and 30 penalty minutes in 28 games this season.
