The Anaheim Ducks have announced that goaltender Lukas Dostal is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks due to an upper-body injury.

The cause of Dostal’s injury is not known at this point in time. He played the entirety of the Ducks’ previous game, a 4-3 overtime win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday, so he either sustained it during play or off the ice.

As for Dostal’s timeline for return, he is considered day-to-day, so he could still be back for the Ducks’ next game on Friday against the Los Angeles Kings. By the looks of it, it’s just an injury that needs some rest, hence why he isn’t even in the lineup in a backup role for Wednesday’s game.

Dostal has been incredible so far this season, and has been a major part of the Ducks’ hot start. Through 17 games, he has an 11-5-1 record with a .904 save percentage and a 10 5v5 goals saved above expected, the latter stat being the third-best in the league.

With Dostal hurt, Petr Mrazek is expected to get the start for Wednesday’s game against the Canucks. Mrazek has a 3-2-0 record, an .886 SV% and a 2.14 5v5 GSAx in five games this season.

Also as a result of Dostal’s injury, the Ducks have recalled Ville Husso from their minor-league affiliate, the San Diego Gulls. He has a 6-4-3 record, a .908 SV% and three shutouts in 13 games with the Gulls in the AHL so far this season.

The Ducks will look to build on a stretch of three wins in their last four games when they host the Canucks on Wednesday at 7 p.m. EST. Anaheim currently has a record of 14-7-1, which is good enough for first in the Pacific Division.
