Anaheim Ducks head coach Joel Quenneville announced on Tuesday that center Mikael Granlund will be out of the lineup on a week-to-week basis with a lower-body injury.

“We’re probably looking at a couple, three weeks,” said Quenneville ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Florida Panthers.

Granlund sustained the injury during Saturday’s 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he left early in the first period and did not return. The actual cause of the injury is not known. His current timeline for return has him missing somewhere around 10 games.

Granlund was the Ducks’ big free agent signing of the 2025 summer, as the two agreed to a three-year contract with a $7 million cap hit. He’s been off to a strong start with two goals and six assists for eight points in eight games, although a lot of that production is from a two-goal, five-point night last Thursday in the Ducks’ 7-5 win over the Boston Bruins.

With Granlund out of the lineup, Ryan Poehling is currently projected to take the Oulu, Finland product’s spot on the third line with Troy Terry and Nikita Nesterenko, much like they did in Saturday’s loss after Granlund left the game. That combo has a 30% 5v5 expected goal share in 4:36 of ice time together this season.

According to Quenneville, Jansen Harkins is expected to draw into the lineup in place of Granlund. This game will be Harkin’s season debut, as he’s been a healthy scratch for the Ducks through the first eight games of the season.

The Ducks will look to bounce back from their loss to the Lightning without Granlund when they visit the Panthers at 4 p.m. PST on Tuesday. Anaheim currently sits in sixth in the Pacific Division with a 4-3-1 record through eight games this season.
