The Anaheim Ducks will be getting more reinforcements, as center Ryan Strome will be making his season debut on Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings.
Per Coach Q: Ryan Strome szn debut tonight. #flytogether
— Aly Lozoff (@AlysonLozoff) November 13, 2025Strome has been out of the Ducks’ lineup for the entirety of the season thus far after sustaining an upper-body injury during a practice in training camp. He had been on injured reserve all season, and was activated off of IR earlier this week, with Radko Gudas being placed on IR to take his place.
Based on the lines run during morning skate, Strome will center the third line between Frank Vatrano and Mikael Granlund. Considering that Granlund only joined the team this season, and Strome has yet to play a game, this combination has never played together in their careers. It appears that Strome will not be playing on any special teams units at this point in time.
With Strome entering the lineup, Jansen Harkins will fall out of the lineup in his place.
Strome is coming off of a season where he had 10 goals and 31 assists for 41 points in 82 games. It was his third-straight season hitting exactly 41 points, and his sixth-straight season scoring at least 41 points.
Strome is entering the fourth season of a five-year contract with a $5 million cap hit.
Strome was drafted fifth overall in the 2011 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders, spending four seasons with the Islanders before he was dealt to the Edmonton Oilers in return for Jordan Eberle in the 2017 offseason. He spent parts of two seasons in Edmonton before he was traded to the New York Rangers for Ryan Spooner early in the 2018-19 season, where he eventually broke out playing alongside Artemi Panarin. After four seasons in New York, he signed with the Ducks in free agency in 2022.
The Ducks will look to bounce back from their 4-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday when they visit Detroit to play the Red Wings on Thursday at 4 p.m. PST. Anaheim sits in first in the Pacific Division with an 11-4-1 record.
